Bollocks.
They always make it finals. Can't remember the last time they failed to.. maybe Italy 1990? No surprise though when they compete in the weakest region!
I dun have a favorite side... neither Brazil nor Mexico.. I just hope FIFA let it be fair!

Who will you be rooting for?
Who do you want me to root for, nietzsche? Normally I would cheer for Mexico, but my friend's husband is real dick when it comes to Mexican soccer, so part of me wants to root against him since he'll drink himself silly in sorrow.

Are you really referring to football as "soccer" in the WC thread? Oh Andy, you silly monkey.
I did not sit up last night to see Ghana-USA, heard USA won with 2-1 though, a bit of an upset to me, I did not expect them to win. From the comments here it seems Ghana controlled the play for most of the time but couldn't score on their chances enough, USA will have to play a similar style against Portugal, as Portugal will control the ball, tight defense and counterattack will be USA's chance, but I don't see them being able to walk away with a point in that game. Portugal did not show theri scoring abilities last night but that's what they are good at, so expect the U.S defense to have to stand on their head to shut down Portugal.
AoG for President of the World!!
I promise he will put George W. Bush to shame!

Mexico didnt go to Italy 90 because the federation cheated on a sub-something competition faking birth certificates. It's known in Mexico as "los famosos cachirules".

basically, USA scored after 30 seconds; then ghana dominated pretty much the whole game but being quite bad in front of howard. They managed to score in the last 10 minutes, but the US scored a minute after. Team USA did the job.

I didn't know... then let's say the last time they technically failed was in Spain 1982?
France has a great record against brazil in world cups too.
2006: we beat them in quarter finals
1998: we beat them in the final
1986: we beat them in quarter finals
I don t know before that, but all i know is that since i m born, if brazil faces france they always lose.
i don't even care what the score will be as long as mexico wins.
PS: fellaini saved belgium's ass today.

I love soccer, but its tremendously irritating when every time there's contact and one guy falls he has to roll around on the ground like he lost both his legs from a landmine trying to sell a call.
