Driving an alfa romeo spyder!!! You really do need to put that in the context of its time period.

I couldnt leave it a three. Yell at me for it if you want.
Field of Dreams definitely had the most inane plot of any movie i've ever seen. Costner and Jones actually made it watchable but without them the movie never would've made it to theatres. That being said, your inclusion of District 9 leaves me wondering whether you have any sense of humor whatsoever.

All I know about District 9 is that I was looking forward to seeing it; when I did I spent half the fucking movie wondering why the f*ck a giant cockroach-squid thing would name himself Christopher first of all. Second, sorry but nice try at the whole racism documentary style sub-plot thing...lame, unoriginal, (see #4) and boring. Third, the shitty 'alien' dialect. The whole movie was like the tutorial level of a crappy first person shooter.
If you haven't yet seen District 9, I'm gonna tell you how it ends right now....you being pissed off that you spent 2 hours wasting your time.
I saw "District 9" on the Netflix site and the blurb compared it to "Alien Nation". I'd never heard of "District 9" but i liked "Alien Nation" so i watched it. Aside from having aliens i have no idea where they got any correlation between the two, but the documentary format immediately grabbed me. It was flawlessly done with typical understated Brit humour and had me laughing out loud (not easy to do) almost immediately.

"Lame, unoriginal and boring"? That's what my wife says about Monty Python and i find that most wimminz agree with her. She also hated "District 9" and said it was "as ridiculous and pointless as Monty Python". Waddasurprise. The female mind cannot grok on perverse humor - especially Brit humour if the female is American. No, don't ask me to analyze this - i tried once and had to go on a 3 day drinking binge to regain my sanity - i will never attempt such again (the analysis thing, not the binge).

Suffice it to say that if you are a female you are beyond redemption as far as enjoying satire beyond a "Golden Girls" level. If you are a male i would suggest a series of testosterone injections and then a second viewing of the pic - i believe you'll be pleasantly surprised and maybe a little bit aroused.

Ok, just rewatched Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and it doesn't compare well with the first two films in the trilogy.

I'm probably going to get slammed for this, because Citizen Kane is supposed to be such a great film, but I just found it pretentious and slow. Aside from a few memorable lines and artful camera/lighting moments, I saw nothing to deserve its grand reputation.
The right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer to the real question.

Movies like that are like classical music - most of the people who "appreciate it" have no fooking idea, they rave about it because they think it makes them appear intelligent. I had 6 years of classical piano lessons as a kid but i never listen to it unless someone else puts it on. I never saw "Citizen Kane" or "Death of a Salesman" because i know i'd fall asleep. Sure it's art, and i won't say it's overrated, but it ain't for me and i ain't gonna pretend.

It's not a good comparison. I also think Citizen Kane is overrated. Movies and music shouldn't be boring, and there's nothing anti-intellectual about that.

That said, you just have to listen to the right classical music.

As we seem to be on the topic of Citizen Kane -
the most overrated movie of all time is "There Will Be Blood"

By the end of the movie I was looking for the sled on the wall. If they wanted to remake Citizen Kane why didn't they just do it.

They are producing a sequel though. Citizen Kane 2: The Slay Ride. Jason Statham to play Kane, I believe.

I agree, but I found the philosophy behind the dream to be too cliché.

Really I thought they had him lined up for the remake of Oldboy. I was looking forward to seeing him eat an octopus.

edit Damn! I just noticed my signature, now I've got to sort that out
