I tend to agree and disagree with you. The number of games matter to a certain point. While getting to 2000 points might be done in 50 or less games and getting to 3000 in 200 games, keeping that high place is a challenge.

At 2000 points I had almost a 1:2 ratio of wining. Around 3000 points (now that I'm playing only high ranked players) I have a 1:4 ratio.

At 3000 points, we're not fighting to get more points, we're fighting to stay there. Until there's enough players with really high scores to make it easier for us we'll be there at 3000. This is where we accumulate the high number of games.

My problem is, score inflation moves faster than I can win games, I play so little.

Anyway it's logical that people who play more should be better practiced, and therefore better players.

Saying i was the best was a joke btw, I'm good, but probably not the best, I still make stupid moves due to lack of experience sometimes, and afterwards realise, ah crap.

I hate those braincramps. I'll never understand how some people can have 50+ games going. I've got like 20 or so, and even then I occasionally mess up because I'm rushing thru trying to grind out turns...

I don't know, I like having many games. It makes me detach from each game and I can rethink each move before making them. By the way I remember each game with each plan, I don't take notes.

Maybe I should give it a try. I haven't exactly been lighting the world on fire recently...

The crazy thing is that recently I've been in the sorts of games that I've never seen before. Yeah, I can do an escalating cascade as well as the next guy, but I'd never before played, say, a 6 person classic game where everyone has 60 or so armies, with several dispersed nodes of power each... it's gonna take some practice.

I will say, tho, there is an aesthetic, not to mention operational, beauty to some of the games being played at the elite/colonel level. I can't even imagine how one of those super elite games goes... it'd probably cause my forebrain to melt.

Let me tell you... they are fantastic...
6 players all making perfect moves...
That's right... no stoopid moves, no missed blocks
(except for that one, and for the record NUKE, I didn't miss it, I just thought it wasn't necessary),
and no missed oppourtunities (means no easy wins)

Yes, 6 players all knowing who, what, where, when and how to make moves and to take the board,

and 6 players all knowing who, what, where, when and how to keep the other players from doing so...

So any mistake, however rare, really stands out in these games.
So no matter how good you are,,,, luck is what you really need.

BAh, luck is overrated, the good are beaten by the better. No one is perfect, in games with more than two sides there is no perfect game, everyone makes mistakes.

I guess I'll just have to keep toiling in the coal mines until
A) I actually manage to get my sh*t together and get better at this damn game or
B) freefall back into captain-dom or
C) realize that cc is taking over my life and check myself into a rehab facility, where I'll reenact the infamous detox scene from trainspotting, only it'll be a damn ninja turtle crawling across the ceiling

No - just think how many there will be in, for example, just another year of conquer club. Congrats to all who are up there - they are great players - but the ranks need to be changed to make general less acheivable. I think I'll go and see if I can drag up a thread about changing the ranks from somewhere...
