CC With High School Pupils

Blocking forums? Wow, what a real insulting thing to do. I'm sure they wouldn't care less to go on or not, or would go on at home. Can't you just turn a blind eye? Nice lesson plan though.

The point is more covering my back as I can get into trouble for encouraging kids to access these forums with "unsuitable" content. I don't personally have a problem with the forums (hey, I use them enough!) but as a teacher you have to be careful. What they do at home is their own business and is then the responsibility of the parents!

I'm a thirteen year old student, I love this game.

However, maybe you should do a class beforehand to teach them to play risk, so if anyone who dosen't really like the game, won't sign up.

..Damn. I wish my teacher would do that.

yes, a lot of high school kids like playing. A lot of people at my high school play. I got introduced to CC because 3 friends from my school invited me to play.

I've asked for tournament privileges. Partly for this and partly because I want to try my hand at running a public one on here anyway.

The forum can be blocked to the kids by our IT staff so if I get the privileges then it will be all systems go for June. Will let you know how it goes.

Not to sound like an ass, but why not just get like 5 risk boards, set up a tourney yourself, and just play? Do you really need the extra maps?

Just wondered if there are any other teachers out there who had played CC with school pupils?

I am a high school teacher here in Scotland (with 11-18 year olds). The school has an activity week in June where all the pupils get a wide choice of activities to do ranging from trips abroad to more educational activities in classrooms. Today I noticed there was a a day of chess and a day of board games being offered. It got me thinking could I do it with CC?

I'm a computing teacher with 20 machines so no problem with access. I am also a premium member so I could set up private games throughout the day for pupils to join.

Can I ask, do 11-18 year olds find risk interesting?

Can anyone see any potential problems I might encounter in the running of such a day? The only one I can see is a limit of 4 games per pupil which isn't a big problem.

Any feedback would be most welcome before I decide whether to go ahead or not.

Lots of reasons:
-I only have one Classic board myself so it means finding the cash for others
-kids love using computers (and I am a computer teacher with 20 in my room)
-using cc they can learn the rules quicker and can't cheat
-there are no pieces that can get lost, damaged etc.
-I have the option of playing in/monitoring any games I want
