I feel you need more continents. Four seems like a very small number.

Well, having four continents was the original idea and from now, it will be hard to add one. :/ This is supposed to be a small map anyway, I'll see what I can do.

Update:

Added two territories and two impassable rivers.

32 territories make:

0 neutral zones in a 2 player game
2 neutral zones in a 3 player game
0 neutral zones in a 4 player game
2 neutral zones in a 5 player game
2 neutral zones in a 6 player game

Something needs to be done about the text in Vestfirdir or change the colour of the continent. I'm not particularly fond of any of the colours for that matter. Perhaps stick to one shade of a colour for each continent and choose some nicer colours, maybe something that reflects Iceland.

I'm aware of the names in Vestfirðir but I have not done anything yet since I might have to change quite a few of the names there. I decided to make the colours a bit darker as they approach the middle of the map, trying to reflex the increasing height. If you dislike it, I'll have to change it in the next update.

Since you are a cartography assistant, do you have any comments about the gameplay on this map in general? Are just four continents hopeless?

I think more continents would be better for gameplay. You could use the following and combine some of the smaller areas or have some +1 bonuses.

For the change in colour tone, I would perhaps consider a fade/gradient style across the whole map if you're trying to reflect height variation. Also, most maps from my knowledge show an increase in height as ligther rather than darker.

In order to make this a serious map, you need at least 5 'continents'. And change the colours, right now it looks like a pre-school map and is hard on the eyes.

I think it's worth pursuing though.

The reason for not updating this map for so long is that I haven't had that much time recently, update will come soon enough.

I'll add the continent of Vestfjarðakjálki up in the left corner and make Vestfirðir a bit bigger. Then I'll have 5 continents just like on the Australia map and many others.

So in a 5 or 6 player game, 1 or 2 players won't even get a bonus.

5 continents I said, not 4. I do admit it is small, but small maps are needed anyway. Compare the World 0.5 project, test players have said it works fine.

Oh, sorry, I missed that part. And Australia map has 6 bonuses.

Not to pick on you, but the only other maps with 5 bonuses or less are Space and Indochina.

Actually, Space has more than 5, including the Wormholes and War Gates. The only one is Indochina, and sometimes there are serious flaws in that map.

How come only sometimes there are seroius flaws? does the map change very time you play it?

read keyogis post on their being more continents with smaller bonuses and less borders as that will increase gameplay dramatically and is a good idea

Okay, my exams are finally over now.

The changes look much more radical than they are.
- Increased the number of continents (to 6 from 4).
- Increased the number of countries (to 36 from 30).
- Changed the colours.

I want to see some comments before I add the names of the territories, army circles and so on.

You are correct. I am aware of that and will change the dots later on. The colour of the glaciers' borders will also be changed in the next update.
