Colin Farrell's Greek accent in Alexander was spot on.Neoteny wrote:Yeah, not to pile on the Americans or anything, but Colin Farrell does a terrible Irish accent. Totally ruined In Bruges for me (though I thought Alexander was close enough).
It was probably pretty far from his comfort zone too. Almost as good as Jude Law's Russian accent in Enemy at the Gates.thegreekdog wrote:Colin Farrell's Greek accent in Alexander was spot on.Neoteny wrote:Yeah, not to pile on the Americans or anything, but Colin Farrell does a terrible Irish accent. I think you're refering to "The Grey". Lead role? Liam Neeson. Who I've listed as one of my favorite actors. He's Irishpimpdave wrote:I completely agree with you greenoaks. Why was Christian Bale passed over for Batman Begins, et al? Why didn't Damien Lewis get the role of Dick Winters in Band of Brothers? Ewan McGregor and Jude Law are always being passed over for roles playing Americans too. The injustice!
Did any of you see that movie about the wolves that attack all of the Americans in Alaska? I don't remember who the lead was, but it certainly wasn't some British guy trying to do an American accent! Or that movie where the same guy's daughter gets kidnapped by bad guys in Paris. That was either an American or an Australian, but definitely not British actor.
I even heard that new Spiderman movie had an English guy audition, but he was laughed at and definitely not cast.

Erm? What?greenoaks wrote:i recall a British actor complaining pointing out British actors dont get leading man action roles but Aussies do. why is that?
besides James Bond there doesn't seem to be any major leading male roles for Brits. we have Hugh Jackman, the guy in Thor and the one in Avatar. Canadians and Americans have numerous ones but the British dont seem to have any.

I merely direct you toward Harry Potter, and the Batman franchise. Plus, hey, don't count out the ladies.
And finally, of course, I want to emphasise your point that you have Hugh Jackman.

Totes thought that guy was from Kentucky.rdsrds2120 wrote:No, Tunisia.pimpdave wrote:Holy shit, you mean Irish as in, from Ireland?Gillipig wrote: I think you're refering to "The Grey". Lead role? Liam Neeson. Who I've listed as one of my favorite actors. He's Irish.

Why are you trolling? Do you have some sort of compulsive disorder that forces you to post when you don't have anything to say?pimpdave wrote:What the f*ck? Are you saying Jude Law isn't Russian?
I know, right? Weirdest argument I've seen for a while. Add Patrick Stewart in there, and Orlando Bloom plus Ewan McGregor.rdsrds2120 wrote:Plenty come to mind! Dead or alive,Symmetry wrote:Erm? Ian McKlellan
Kate Winslet
Christopher Lee
Julie Andrews
Hugh Laurie
Alan Rickman (Snape, so I guess mentioned)
and my personal favorite from the Brits, ANTHONY HOPKINS.
