I think maybe one of the reasons people have problems with masturbation is the fact that it is an extremely selfish act.

Lust is when you start thinking about the things you would do to/with a girl. And that's what generally accompanies masturbation. There's a very fine line between lust and appreciation of a woman's beauty, and unfortunately, we as men cross it way too often (again, myself included).

From the Christian perspective, there is no sin in seeing a naked woman if you see her and raise thanks to God for giving us so beautiful a companion. There is sin if you start thinking about what you would do with her if you had the chance. And that's masturbation for you. Face it- when you're masturbating while thinking of some girl, you're not seeing her as God's creation, you're visualizing something erotic.
