At the moment your getting the worst of both worlds, If you are not mafia, the mafia now know you have some kind of power role, your roleclame however is not specific so it sounds like you are afraid of saying what you really are in case the person who really has the power role exposes you

1: It would be revealing of substance and that would get me banned from mafia games.
2: If permitted, The mafia would easily pick me off if I exposed it...

While pushing role claims is scummy I think that A editing and B all of this "I dont want to give out my role" is scummier. I think that in this instance a role claim is nessecary.

and so would the doctor. The doctor never has any idea who to protect day 1. The mafia never know who to kill. If you role claim what will probably happen is that the doc will protect you and the scum will pick a different target. If you dont role claim and you arnt mafia then he mafia will know that you are a power role and kill you. The doc wont know weather you are scum or not and protect someone else. If you are the doc though that complicates things.

It's actually be better if he did roleclaim for the reasons that DN said. The doc can protect him. Unless he is the doc. Then he shouldn't roleclaim.
