your rank is cook and you've won a total of 2 games out of 25. Impressive. And are you saying that some posts in the IK and forum games aren't part of the CC experience. The CC experience is the whole thing, not what you just deem as so.Ditocoaf wrote:Well, I think the post count is designed to show your CC-related experience. Someone could join, not play a single game, not even know how to play, and discuss politics constantly in IK; this would give them a high post-count, but no knowledge of the game.hecter wrote:Well, technically everything in there is about the game and/or it's players, but I just don't think that "*insert CC in general/dice/player name* is a *insert profanities* *insert descriptive and disgusting thing about sex*" really constitutes useful and helpful discussion that will help the site grow.Ditocoaf wrote:I was mostly just talking about why it can be okay for some posts not to be counted; I don't know anything about the FW forum (I've never posted there). I think the reason that it's still counted is that it's intended to be about the game, but if people aren't actually using it to argue about actual games as desired by the staff, then I guess it shouldn't be counted either.
I also don't like the message that not counting posts in IK sends. In itself, it's a very trivial matter; post count doesn't actually mean anything. But it sends the message that IK is just some stupid spam board and that's all it's good for, rather than a place more like the cliched watercooler in an office, where you can go, hang out, chat about nothing or discuss important cultural topics, get some help with something (non-CC related), ect.
I'm not sure how well this concept will apply to this community, but in others, it's helped people know who to look to regarding game issues. People still use the off-topic forums for meaningful discourse, but that meaningful discourse could take place anywhere, and has no purpose to that website.
I can see two potentials for FW: What it is now (people insulting other people, trying to either shock readers, or make themselves look BA,), and what it was meant to be (a place to say, "you suck at playing CN, look at what you did in game 1234567!" and debate who plays the worst). The former definitely does not relate to the game; the second does. Using the rationale I mentioned above, then either FW should be regulated to game-realted trash talk, or FW posts shouldn't count. This is of course if the limited post-count stays in effect.

Better yet, if I resorted to taking shots at Johnyrocket after every post he makes I'd get a high postcount too. This would give me no knowledge of the game but would show I think I'm hilarious.timmytuttut88 wrote:they could post a lot in FW too and even tournament games. "Spam the living f*ck out of all of the other forums while trying to make it look like you're actually contributing to boring Risk-Related discussions in order to boost your postcount to stratospheric heights"
Really... what does that have to do with anything? I suck at CC in-game. I've never played risk before in my life. Don't just call me a n00b, argue against what I said. While I may be new here, and poor at the game, I've been a longtime member of 4-5 forums, and a new (or on-and-off) member of a few more.Fircoal wrote:your rank is cook and you've won a total of 2 games out of 25. I'm not talking about "the CC experience," I'm talking about experience. I'm talking about whether you can ask someone how the Foundry process works; I'm talking about who's discussed in-game strategy the most; I'm talking about who knows the most about the tons of suggestions that get dumped here each day. While I love IK and especially the Forum Games section, and all the people I talk to there, that stuff could take place on any website, and has nothing to do with Conquer Club, the game. It has to do with the CC website experience, but the purpose of this website is the game, and the off-topic discussion is an added, irrelevant bonus.And are you saying that some posts in the IK and forum games aren't part of the CC experience. thats exactly why we have a Q&A forum. To help out noobies. if your saying the point of the forum is to help n00bs ur wrong. The point of the forum is just to talk to people who happen to also like risk.Ditocoaf wrote: I'm not talking about "the CC experience," I'm talking about experience. (and btw, just because I'm arguing and sound angry, don't think I hate you. A strange personality trait of mine is that I only argue with people I respect; people I don't respect or like, I ignore.)

It proves that you suck at the game, which means any advice from you isn't the best no matter your post count.Ditocoaf wrote:Really... what does that have to do with anything? I suck at CC in-game. What guarantee do you have that a person with a high postcount will tell you the truth? In fact, I know how the foundry works and I haven't posted there a lot.I'm talking about whether you can ask someone how the Foundry process works;
People who talk about that.I'm talking about who's discussed in-game strategy the most;

Actually, I'd say that the IK and forum games sections make for a way better community and have to do with the site.While I love IK and especially the Forum Games section, and all the people I talk to there, that stuff could take place on any website, and has nothing to do with Conquer Club, the game. There's a big ol' problem there... See, you didn't notice the Brawl Hall invasion as you never post in FW. I don't care which, but I believe that one of the two has to happen.wicked wrote:I'd rather see getting rid of the FW post counts too, than allowing IK posts to count again.

we thinks its stupid to restrict posts since itll only promote spam in other threads and forums. Its not a matter of post count. (or atleast not to me)reminisco wrote:honestly...
if the IK posts not counting for your post count is the worst thing that ever happens to you in your entire life, you'll have a wonderful fucking life.

I don't have any other causes at the moment. Politics in the IK is dead currently.reminisco wrote:honestly...
