I like the idea, and the graphics for the most part---aside from the current color scheme.

I'll keep an eye on this and come back with more thought later.

I like the idea of including actual fur trade companies and dropping the story line "you opened a business..."

The grain of the map is a little too distracting though.

Ever thought about giving a certain type of bonus for forts? Perhaps some sort of bombard to symbolize their military power?

Another possibility would be to make traps an area to be captured, which yields a bonus. For example, hold one fur trap and post for +1. Kind of like age of merchants but on a less grand scale.

I like the idea as well, but as previously stated due to copyright issues, I cannot use The Hudson's Bay Company or any of its other names or logos, coat of arms etc. The same with the Northwest Company which started up again a few years ago when The Bay (The Hudson's Bay Company) sold off some of its companies. Although while doing some more research, I found out after I made up some names that was an actual Rocky Mountain Fur Company.

The story line has been dropped, see v2.8 just above.

Hmmm... and I thought it was just right! :( Oh well I'll see what I can do to subdue it a little more.

What kind of bonus where you thinking of? As for bombardments, meh, doesn't go with the time period. Think about it, you're in the 1800's and you bombard another post 100's of miles away with what? Beaver pelts? Good idea, but doesn't fit in with the time period.

Now that's a good idea!! Hmmm ... although I'm not inclined to adding in any more territories. I'll play around with it and see what I can come up with!

Since we're discussing game play now, is there anyway we can get this bumped to Game Play? Just wondering?

You need to submit a design brief. Then the mods will move the threads when they find it convenient for them... ;)

Changes made:
- Redid the background, hopefully its not as grainy as before.
- Added the bonus structure for traps and furs as +2
- Readjusted the bonuses for the posts
- Added a +2 fur traders added to home post
- reduced the noise in the outer glow

That's it for now.

They're not going to be starting positions right? Because you only have 6 bonus areas, and you'd need 8 starting positions... you see what I mean.

Anyway, I really like the traps + traplines bonus system.

It can work with 8 starting positions and 6 bonuses I think!? If anyone has any suggestions on how to make it work I'm all eyes!

Here's my idea of the location of the starting positions (the "S's" are the starting positions):

I don't think so. There'd be 2 bonus areas which would have 2 starting points each. Those four unfortunate players would be at a disadvantage, while the 4 others who get to start in a bonus area all alone would have a huge advantage not having to compete for their bonuses...

Hmmm ... I guess I can go one of two ways:
1) Add two more bonuses or,
2) Just have it as random drop.

Now which way would be the best way?

Have it as a random drop gets my vote... Starting points work for some maps, this one would IMO be nicer with random drops.

I think you're right. So today I was looking over the map and decided to throw some numbers on it, and then I decided to make sure that the small was going to be clear enough for the numbers. I just put on the 88's on both, and think that 888's are going to be okay on the small version, so here are both the large and small!

The single 5's are the territories that start as neutrals.

Well, MrBenn is a very busy man. I'm sure he's doing all he can to run the melting pot swiftly and efficiently...

Okay, now that I took a small break from looking at the map I made a couple of changes:
- Added water attack routes so it is more clear on what post can attack what.
- Added a couple of extra trails to connect a few posts that we not connected
- Added the attack routes to the legend area

That's it for now, so let me know what you think!

I like the changes. The water routes make more sense than connecting all shore territories to each other.

You may want to adjust the visual style of the water routes. Maybe smaller dots? The connection between forts Victoria & Nisqually is a bit sketchy, it's not as clear as it could be being just 2 dots... I can see it possibly confusing some people.

Did a couple of minor changes:
- Redid the water attack route between Fort Victoria and Fort Nisqually
- Reworded the bonus for holding posts
