Hi, you live in America, the single most racist (against people of African descent, at least) country in the entire world. I actually happen to know Ronc, and he is far from racist in real life. What he said was meant to get a rise, and right or wrong, a rise it got. That whole clan is still up in arms over some silly remark made nearly a month ago on a nameless, faceless internet site intended for demolishing competition.

I don't agree with the sentiment, I don't agree with the execution... but a heartfelt apology was made and its time to move on...

The mods are doing fine. When they are doing their job well, you won't hear from them... unless you're one of the rabble who takes joy in being the center of internet attention. Keep multis out, keep responding to complaints, and keep order. We can ask no more of them. We can demand no less of them.

You see the term 'nigger' is a taboo to most of us. It has diminished somewhat in impact with its adoption and reclamation by American black culture. That has allowed it to be used by non-black people in certain circumstances but very very delicately and very very specifically.

Using that word is the verbal equivalent of standing up in a church at the end of "I do solemnly declare that I do not know of any lawful impediment why they cannot be married"
and slanderously shouting 'i banged her last night and she's my fathers wife!'

you sit in church and anticipate the embarrassment, you are compelled so strongly not to do that that you almost think you might.... but we never do!
In some ways that is where the analogy falls short; I never consider using the word pejoratively or to get a rise!
I will use it analytically, generally in rebuke of another but never as a description or a taunt.

So, although i agree in forgiveness and contrition, (Also i am unaware of the circumstance or provocation) some things are so obviously unacceptable that it is hard to deem them as a slip of the tongue; a momentary lapse in good sense or character.

It seems again to be a strange act for a person in the act of contrition, though he may be exasperated it is not a smart move. It will not win over the neutral. In fact it seemed again to be an attempt to get a rise or at least hit out at Owens clan members.

this is why blatant racist actions by members should have a mandatory ban. 24 hours for racism is not nearly enough, and it is what these guys are being given for trashing black members with racist comments that cross the line. and i find it very amusing that kiddicus doesn't tolerate racism or condone it, but he was one of the members using the word niggardly out of context while addressing a black member of the site. this garbage needs to be dealt with. kiddicus and ronc are continually baiting black members using racist words and terminology and getting away with slaps on the wrist. maybe ron and kiddicus should read the rules

How about something a little more colorful now and then, such as, "Racism is disconcerting," "Racism is enthralling," or, "Racism is scary?"

Why not take a bilingual approach and say, "Racism is passe?"

Using the same modifier over and over not only makes your tirades boring, but it also weakens whatever point you may think you're making.

Well, I think that's precisely the problem here. If you can't think of one yourself, use an online thesaurus, for God's sake! Just look how easy it is to use different words with similar meanings....

I just spent 10 seconds punching "disgusting" into thesaurus.com, and here's a list of words that it gave me:

abominable, awful, beastly, cloying, creepy, detestable, distasteful, foul, frightful, ghastly, grody, gross*, gruesome, hateful, hideous, horrid, horrific, icky*, loathsome, lousy, macabre, monstrous, nasty, nauseating, nerdy, noisome, objectionable, obnoxious, odious, offensive, outrageous, repellent, repugnant, revolting, rotten, satiating, scandalous, scuzzy, shameless, shocking, sleazeball, sleazy*, stinking, surfeiting, vile, vulgar, yecchy, yucky*

Now, instead of using the same old, boring word a dozen times in a row, you should be able to see that this conversation would have a lot more "pizzazz" if one of you were to switch it up now and then with one of the above words, each of which are considerably more imaginative. With so many wonderful and exciting synonyms at your disposal, why on earth would you want to limit yourself to one boring modifier? Personally, I like "Racism is scandalous," "Racism is nerdy," or, "Racism is yucky." Try a little variety -- I guarantee you'll be pleased with the results!
