I am afraid you have gone off the deep end with this one.

When you threaten a cop in uniform, you are not just threatening the individual. You are threatening the institution of laws. Cops are certainly not perfect, but those nice, safe roads and sidewalks you enjoy would be a lot less safe if people were allowed to threaten police officers and then just say "gee.. only kidding"
It really doesn't make it easier to hear this load of crap from mpjh when I have relatives that are cops in my town. So mpjh can just go jump off a cliff for all I care now.
I have relatives who are cops. I have been abused by cops. Cops are human, they are definitely not perfect, definitely should be scrutinized, but when they put on that uniform, they represent much more than an individual.

We need to remember all of that.

I understand what you are saying (at least I think I do...), but just as I don't ask the religions or political beliefs of my coworkers, I don't think CC screens them, either. (unless, of course it is in the realm of the illegal).

Similarly, I will happily debate anyone on many topics, but I only went to flame wars once, and that was by accident (when a thread I was debating in was moved). There IS a difference.

The key is whether the person's views are biasing the mod actions. I agree that this has happened in the past, but I don't believe in this particular case. (and, yes, I acknowledge it could be just a matter of time, but I would like to think not.)

Well, when CC takes down FW but CC mods keep flaming it has nothing to do with views or bias.

I would not call simply expressing views, even ones with which I strongly disagree or find objectionable, to be flaming.
