DiM....I have to say...after all the toing and froing and arguing and moments of battle in the last couple of weeks, this is about the most human thing i have heard you say in a while...good to see you still have some humour.

And i'm not being nasty or anything else, i had quite a good laugh at it!

thanks mate.
i guess i do have my moments when i go on a forum rampage and rant about things i don't like.

yeah i guess you're both right back when you look back and see that i'm right in most cases it kinda pays off to listening me rant.
terminator 1v1 abuse is gone.
freestyle abuse is going to be removed soon.
the foundry process has been improved.
looks like my ranting wasn't for nothing. and don't worry i'll keep on complaining and trying to suggest fixes on whatever pisses me.

The Age of Might Map has reached the
‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have exmined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in
Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.
Post questions and concerns if any.

woohooo
i got a question. the map name is:
Age of Realms: Chapter 1 - Age of Might not just
The Age of Might as andy said.
will that be a problem since it's a long name?
i really want that name structure because of the nature of the trilogy.
i want people to see from the title that all 3 episodes belong in this trilogy and what episode is 1st, 2nd and last.

Congrats on making it this far, I hope you get to keep the full name and not have to shorten it.
As I stated in an earlier post I still have some concerns with "Hold all castles to unite the realms". This obviously is your call to make but I do think if to win you need to hold all the castles this could confuse some if it is not spelt out clearer on the face of the map. That said if it remains vague I hope I can gain some handy pts. this way.
would also love to see the accompanying story idea being rolled out, but obviously that should not hold this map up from being quenched but as soon as this becomes available it should be added.
Anyway hope to play this one real soon.

well as i said the story is a problem. i don't feel like spending hours and hours on writing something and posting it here where it will probably never be read.
if the idea you posted in the suggestion forum is accepted then i'm ok with writing.
PS: thanks for the congrats

Well, you can keep the full title on the map.
But lack said D-Day: Omaha Beach! was near pushing it. I think he won't mind as long as on the find games screen your name doesn't generate more then 2 lines.
Unfortunately, at current I think your name would wrap to 4 lines.

Age of Realms: Chapter 1 - Age of Might
Why is it the Age of.... Age of...
because realm means :kingdom or domain
Is there a particular character or name you could assign this series?
SO........why not name the kingdom and use that as the title?
KINGDOM: Age of Might (Ch1)
KINGDOM: Age of ... (Ch2)
KINGDOM: Age of ... (Ch3)
Like my Draknor maps are:
The Dungeon of Draknor: Hall of Testing
The Dungeon of Draknor: Crypts and Catacombs
The Dungeon of Draknor: Secret of Draknor
I will just refer to them as Draknor: HoT / Draknor: CaC / Draknor: SoD
Just an idea

He probably wasn't expecting me to quote this, but oh well.

Andy and I agreed that it looks best if we keep the names of each map wrapping up to 2 lines in the game finder.
It's not just the # of characters but the width of each character that matters.
Also each word shouldn't be too long or it will break the layout. I experimented in IE, normal text size and it seems each line can hold
XXXXXXXXXXXXX

so 13 big characters or 29 small ones.
Age of Realms - exactly 13
Age of Might - 12 more.
so i guess i have to ditch the chapter thing
and it would be great it this
: could also fit the first line.
like this:

DiM wrote:unriggable wrote:ow does this map work: Does each person start with a castle or is it regular? Hope it's the first BTW
all the terits except for the castles will start as neutral.
so in a 2p game each person starts with 2 castles and 2 are neutral
in 3p each gets 2 castles no neutrals
4p 1 castle each and 2 neutrals
5p 1 castle each and 1 neutral
6p 1 castle each.
AWESOME best way to make a map of this style.

You misunderstood DiM, that is for 1 line, you can have 2 lines.

well in his example there is no ":" so it's 13 but in his code he used 14 characters...so without the ":" it's ok...

yes that's why i said:
and it would be great it this : could also fit the first line.
there are 13 big characters on line 1. capital Xs
but on my first line i have just 2 capital letters and 11 small caps. that's why some space will be saved so i think instead of 13 big letters can fit 2 big and 11 small plus ":" and ":" takes up a really small amount of space similar to "i"
so this should fit right:
and if i think about it this would also fit:
