'Twas very dark, though realistic enough to look HDR =P

Anyway, I'll have to guess Spirited Away.

Closer, but still not there. One more obscure shot before I start giving you main characters and memorable scenes and things.

We've covered the extent of my knowledge of more serious anime with Mononoke and Spirited Away

A great movie, but it's not this one.

You're right, it isn't.

The movie has a high enough rating to be in the top 50 animated movies on imdb, but not enough votes.

Hmm, I don't recognise the shots. Looks somewhere around the Feudal era, so I'll throw in a (no doubt wrong) guess of Ninja Scroll

"for the Top 50, only votes from regular voters are considered." This means that even a rating of 7.8 doesn't mean it'll get into the top 50 after getting enough (1000) votes.

In addition to only using the votes from regular voters; I think IMDb also ignore the regular voters who usually only vote 1 or 10, and nothing in between.

Of my 2530 votes on IMDb, I've never voted 1, tho I've voted 2 eight times. I've only voted 10 four times: two movies and two tv episodes.

None of this invalidates the hint.

Correct, the guess is wrong.

2009 - 1996 =/= 2ish

The dog in that screenshot did not go to heaven btw, this is on account of the dog not dying.

The hints alone are enough to get it. If I could get Baraka with the help of imdb, I'm sure someone here is capable of using an internet search engine.

Sword of the Stranger is correct.

By the power invested in me on account of being the one posting the screenshots, I hereby decree that yrral gets to post screenshots from a new movie.
