strike wolf wrote:I don't know...I really wanted to like last week's episode because there was a lot going on but most of the group just seemed so suddenly out of character that it was just weird. Rick's girlfriend I get, she had a moment of overwhelming emotion watching her son get eaten but that scene in itself felt weird watching them kill off 3 secondary characters for seemingly no other reason than to have them killed off in less than 2 minutes. Gabriel (and half of the Alexandrians) is suddenly badass? when did that happen? The Wolfman has a heart all of a sudden...a bit contrived to come up with a quick solution to one of the mid-season's cliff hangers...though at least he's finally dead. I was getting tired of being reminded of how the show set the Wolves up to be so badass for a full half season and then just shot them down in less than 2 episodes. I had been so excited about having a villain group that actually sounded somewhat competent last year and then they pull off a half-baked plan with no guns for some reason and introduce the Saviors. I am sorry comic book nerds, this could change as we learn more but so far the Saviors just aren't exciting me. So yeah, I want to like this episode because there was so much going on but it just felt weird and out of place. Almost like a dream sequence at times.
I do find it kind of funny though. In an episode where multiple characters spent half the time fighting their way through a swarm of zombies, Daryl probably took out more than all of them combined with one well placed shot.
all good points that i didn't really think about, but none the less i enjoyed it. i wished they'd have killed carl, i'm glad the rick's girlfriend family is dead. would have been terrible for them to have a show running for years, and then some liitle pissant defeat the leader over some little teenager's tiff. i don't know why they keep acting like they're going to kill glenn, this was attempt #3 that didn't happen. why can't they just leave the poor guy alone for a while. why couldn't they just show the senator lady die? or did she? i have a feeling rick is going to have to kill her zombie, so i guess that's not a poor choice of a way to go, i guess it will be a nice surprise in like 6 episodes from now when they will decide to do it. or maybe she lives. or stays like some badass zombie that wipes out half the squad.
Yeah ... that chase scene ... that may have been the point of no return for the show. I just re-mixed it to reflect what I was feeling while watching it -

hmmm. when you do this to it, it really helps show how stupid that whole scene was.
Personally, I thought the show jumped the shark when they had Glenn pull a Jesus with the dumpster (not exactly but Jesus rose on the third day Glenn was "dead" for three episodes). The chase scene was silly but I can overlook it as an individual event in the show. The Glenn death fakeout though, I am still calling bullshit.
So is this a death warrant for Rick or Michonne? Couples in walking dead other than Glenn and Maggie:
1. Ed and Carol-Ed died (good riddancr) season 1.
2. Lori and shane-Shane died and dezombified season 2.
3. Rick and Lori-Lori season 3.
4. Governor and Andrea-Andrea dead season 3.
5. Tyreese and Karen (?)-Karen died season 4
6. Governor and Tara's sister- both dead season 4.
7. Tara and that military girl who was with the governor-military chick dI'd season 4.
8. Sasha and Bob-Bob died Season 5
9. Eric and Aaron-seen together for less than a season. Rarely seen together. Too early to tell (T.E.T.T.)
10. Enid and whiny teenage boy who wanted to kill carl-whiny teenager killed by Michonne.
11. Enid and Carl-T.E.T.T.
12. Tara and Denise-T.E.T.T.
13. Abraham and Rosalita-seen together rarely. Established early last season.
14. Deanna and Reg-Reg died season 5.
15. Herschel and his wife-wife died season 2.
16. Beth and what's his name-what's his name died season 4.
So out of 16 non-Glenn relationships not including Rick and Michone. Only 1 has lasted more than 2 seasons. Only 4 have both still alive and together (3 of which have been a thing for only a short while and the other rarely shown (Aaron and Eric also rarely shown). I mean they even had Abraham flirting with Sasha earlier this season). The other 11 have all had at least one die less than 2 seasons after being established. Huh. Being killed is kind of like the Walking Dead's version of a break up.
For the record family members also seem to be fair game in TWD (Herschel wife, Herschel Beth, tyreese, ed, Andreas sister, Merle, deanna, Reg, Aiden, Ricks first half girlfriends entire family, Tara's family, governors daughter, Michonne family, Morgan's wife and son, carols daughter who I really should remember the name of and lori)

Oh duh. Dumb moment I forgot about that. Still wonder how he figured out where Rick lived though. I can see him being wily enough to get past whoever replaced Daryl on gourd duty but I don't see him as the type to beat the information out of the person. I guess we'll find out next week.

next week will probably be a flashback episode right after carl got shot. or either will show Gabriel throw his flock under the bus before he joined the group.
I think the stupidest part of the chase was that it was unnecessary. After launching him from the roof, they could have simply driven off with the supplies and maybe never even see him again.

Also, why do they always drive with just a single vehicle? The vehicle always gets stolen or breaks down. When they have two drivers, why don't they take two cars in case of an emergency? I could understand if it's a fuel conservation thing, but that doesn't make sense since they left the sedan by the truck and said they'd "come back later" for it.

Nice prediction. We shall see.
Pretty close prediction, Phatty; but you were a few episodes off. But Abe saves Glenn's butt not with a RPG, but with automatic machine guns inside Alexandria.

Almost forgot about that. BTW, Abe did take out exactly 300 zombies with the RPG, all said n done.
I think that group would be better off without Gregor y.
Nah. The plan will work perfectly. They'll kill the saviors. Rescue Gregg. Huh? Craig? Really? Who cares. Negan will take his swing at Glenn but Lucille will magically break and Daryl will kill him with his knife. Then the walking dead will move onto setting up the next big bad who will again be dealt with in just a couple episodes.
Maxleod wrote:Not strike, he's the only one with a functioning brain.
So I've gotten to the point where I am starting to believe that the whole Glenn dies by Negan is a misdirection. So odds on who Negan actually kills:
Daryl: 3:1. Let's face it, Daryll character development has taken a nose dive since Beth died. He's even lost his signature crossbow. With his actor getting his own show, Daryll is probably the smart choice.
Morgan: 15:1. While Morgan's non kill philosophy is a decent counter to the increasingly violent main group, it has also caused him to become simply too one dimensional. Being a now non-favorite he could be an easy choice.
Abraham: 50:1. He could die this season but he doesn't make too much sense plot wise if they are going for a character whose death will give an emotional impact.
Maggie: 75:1. She would have the emotional impact but I don't see the show killing her off while she's pregnant.
Rick: 1000:1. He would definitely have the impact and from Negan standpoint it makes a lot of sense to take out the groups leader but there is very little chance that they will actually kill off the main character as anything less than a lead up to the series finale.
Carol: 2000:1. Because she'll be dead by then.

strike wolf wrote:Best episode in a while. Pretty sure that Carol's gonna die now after signing the Walking Dead relationship death warrant.
Loved that they played "Arsonist's Lullaby" by Hozier at the end. Love the song and really fit the mood.
Agreed, this may have been the best episode since the one where they repelled the prison raid.
The opening with Carol baking cookies set to Weeds or Wildflowers was so perfect. It reminded me of the ending awhile back when they played Spics and the Specs as Rick was on patrol in town.
And the battle scene was PRIMO.
