Most of the time, when I drive here in PA, my husband has to take the wheel. However, when we headed out to California, between the 12 lane freeways, the cliffs on either side of a narrow highway 1, etc... suddenly he had no problem letting me drive! (oh, I used to drive buses, too..)
Actually, driving buses in Philadelphia is likely more stressful and hazardous than driving a firetruck here. Beyond that, they make $52,000 but also have to pay probably triple what our mortgage is, double what we pay in groceries (without much room for a garden), plus more for everything from childcare to sports. And, well... they have to live near Philadephia. Cities have some advantages, but rural areas have others. It is unlikely we could afford to send our kids to the best schools there, etc. So, we are probably better off here. At any rate, moving there is not an option for us. (have looked at State College, though).
