That quibbling you refer to over a few ships was about payment - use of military installations and the fact that England was a colonial empire, which I will remind you, Germany, Italy and France were also and WHAT THE WAR WAS ABOUT. CONQUEST and old empires. Maybe you should look at why England delayed American assistance including lend lease. Planes - guns - bombs - ships - tanks. The stuff that saved your asses.
