I have added this line to the rules:
With rematches it will be necessary for a player to win at least three games to advance to the next round. If it again results in a tie, the remaining groups, if more than one, will be shuffled.

i assume 3 out of the last 4 games?? or is it cumulative?

i'd go for simply adding 4 games and the combined highest wins wins. so with 4-3-1 its the 4 player, with 4-4-0 you play a 3th round of 4.. it could get lenghty this way by the way, why not a 1 vs 1 showdown?

Yes, three out of the last four.
The reason for the rule change is to avoid the need for people throwing games.
I don't mind it taking a little while, myself. We'll see what happens. If it takes too long I'll try something else.
But for now I'll leave it like that.

Change to the rules:
In the rematch stage all players will be reshuffled into new groups. There will not be a rematch with the old groups.

so, if i'm understanding this right,
everyone in a tie group gets reshuffled in the big pot of tie groups to another group of 3
these play a best of 4 series and 3 of these 4 must be wins to advance
what is stopping two losing players from taking out the player that won the first two games in the third and fourth?

Legally, nothing. That's part of the tactical gameplay that I had envisioned the rules would produce. The idea being that you have to dominate to survive, making it a challenge and making it difficult to go through on a fluke.

I'll monitor the second round, and if the system turns out to be problematic then I'll switch to a 1v1 system for the remaining players.

in our series, we're at a 1-1-1 draw
should we play out the last one or should we just start over? I haven't joined the final game yet

There is no need to play it. Though you can if you feel like it.
I will have to wait till the other groups are finished before setting up the next bout of games.
