I've thought about carrying over scores, but with the groups being decided randomly it isn't very fair.

Maybe I'll run a tourney where I seed folks and then scores could be carried over.

Please don't interpret this as a complaint, but I honestly don't see the reasoning. I think cumulative scores are more, not less, fair, because they average out your performance in a wider variety of situations (different opponents, different maps, etc.) With non-cumulative scores, you can do an amazing job for a long time, but one sudden burst of bad luck and you're dead.

Perhaps, but there are some groups that are loaded with high players, so the scores are much more even, then there are groups with a bunch of cooks and some officer cleans house.

So, why should that officer get to carry that high score into the next round?

I think the best way to do cumalative scoring would be if I assigned seeds based on points, then at least the groups would be somewhat equal.
