You guys are under the false impression that the scoreboard shows you who the best player is. The "best" players here have nothing to do with points. The scoreboard shows who has accumulated the most points, in order, nothing else. Doesn't rank who's "best".

play a few dozen team games qeee1 if you are that worried about it, there are several super singles players who have lost points over all in teams, there rank has gone down from team play, zaw and andrewo are some and there are a few others like robinette as well, and others, so they dont seem to do well at teams and there rank gets hurt from it, and they are all awesome players, but lose points and rank when they play team games, so, depends on the player, there is skill at both and luck at both, do what is best for you.

gl in your journey and I thought you said your were done here? I invited you to play some games, but you said you were leaving, yet you posted 20 to 30 times in here last few days, and not playing any games? why? you are a super player qeee1 and should play a little more bro, peace.

he moves in the 1 game we are playing in together. He whined his last 4 moves so like always, im sure a negative feedback is coming.

A CC olympics would be cool to really find this out for sure.....a designated group of games played not for points, but for wins or losses...just to show some serious competition...I really would love to see a no points area that we could use for this...It would open up a whole new way to play

team games aren't my style, they're not so much fun for me because there's no psychology involved. Well not to the same extent anyway. I'm an average team game player, like I was an average singles player, before I got practice. I'm not automatically good at things, like when I started I was down near 900 points I think, but I learn well.

Anyway my point is that sure some people are better at team games, some people are better at singles, but overall the score system is biased towards team games, due to two reasons-

1. Ability to pick on random teams in open games.
2. Removal of risk factor from other players, as detailed in Samus' post in this thread.

As for me quitting, yes I am, I'm just waiting for my remaining commitments to finish off. I have one tourney game that'll soon be over, and that game johnny mentioned that's been going on for months.

As for johnny, no negative feedback, don't think you did enough to warrant it, I just really hate your style of play. In my opinion it's a very selfish conservative style. If everyone played that way I think few games would ever end, but that's just my opinion.

I must admit I'm more into the community aspect of the site then the playing, but once I finish up playing I'll disappear from here too. Just happened to be a bunch of topics here recently that interested me.

Then, what is the official purpose of rank/points? In all other things, a rankings scoreboard would be a rough rating of ability. I realize the system can never be perfect, but you're saying it has nothing to do with anything, so why do we even have it at all?

The reason it's easier to win doubles than singles and triples than doubles has nothing to do with the system being broken. It's because if you put the games out there for anyone to play, you're likely to pick up 5-8 out of 10 with teams that aren't well organized, or are just starting, or got wrecked because a nubcake joined at the wrong moment. As far as I'm concerned, if you're willing to spend the time to develop a good team, and you're willing to risk the points, you've earned the points from those games. And it is a risk, because if some moderately organized but low ranking team joins and gets lucky on the drop, the rolls, the cards, or just for some reason outplays you, you get hurt BAD. System's not broken. It just doesn't necessarily guarantee the same level of play at triples as it does at singles.

oh, but it does have something to do with it wicked. the very best of the best players on this site are ranked over 2000, maybe not all who are there, but a vast majority, if you took a poll and there has been some in the past of who the best players on the site were bu cc community, i can guarentee you that vast majority will have solid rankings. some of the names that were mentioned were: and not in this order,

I think most agree, and this is also evidenced by the cc players in this community, most anyways.

Does it show who the best is? No! Does it show that a few dozen are so far ahead of many others? YES.

So, the scoreboard does play a part, not the whole part, but a part.

there are a few phenomenal players, that always stay below the 2000 mark, but only because of the games they play....the ones that come to mind are Fireside, Fortress, wachica, and probably wicked too...and then you have the players like clapper, that just make this place a pleasure to play despite her score or rank... and I know there are more....

I myself would be far higher if I devoted myself to just doubles...when dug got his badge I played tons of 5 player games that I lost...had I not...Id have followed him pretty high up the ladder, but I actually prefer the 2000-2200 mark...it allows me the most flexibility with my games....at 2500-2700, the stakes get to be so high, theres almost no way to play anything you cant win almost every time.

But for the most part, I agree with blitz...the cream does rise to the top..any good player will eventually find a way to gain the colonels hat give or take a few points....Not to say that every good player will....to some degree, it does come down to choices...

My favorite games have been the colonels games...no one complains...not many make silly mistakes, you can trust every one of them, and there arent usually any easy wins...though...there are exceptions to all of these......Myself, I dont care how many points I have next to my name...I just want enough to play the better players and really have a blast...

ok i play with blitz all the time my score is low 940 ok now let me tell you when i win a game with blitz i get 8 did you hear me 8 very small points

when we lose we lose between 35 to 45 points did you hear me

so how is blitz fucking the points system tell me i like to know

because i want 4000 points also but at 8 points a victory it will take 2 lifetimes

Yes. I have to agree with a lot of people above.

Of course the current system is broken! It’s unfair since people get points when playing with other settings than the honourable ones. People abuse it and chase scores. And most importantly, people becomes so used to getting scores all over the place that they grow soft and believes that they are entitled to points.

After months of pondering, I made a suggestion to amend the system a week ago. Predictably though, all the abusers and team players were against it…

If anything should be done it should be that you can not play newbies if you have 3k points. If you have 3k points you should at least play some more experienced players. Lets say 1600 is a cutoff for 3k players. Only really free points is taken from newbies.

But I as said earlier on, if anyone only play for points and not for challenge let them get their free points. Lot of high ranking players fall short when playing good players. Team games are hard to win when playing decent players

Your solution doesn't really solve the problem most people see, that is the discrepencies between regular and team play.

You do propose a suggestion to another problem though, which is points inflation, however I don't think that the proposed solution is the best one.

As for the other problem you list, people thinking they deserve to be high points, or to get points, I don't think that's a paticular problem.

Hey, I actually like triples, it's only a happy coincidence it is the best game type for points. I'd play it even if it yielded the least points.

ok fireside first off you make no sense , if blitz get only 8 points per victory how in hell is he buffing anything .i would love to see some cols and gens come and play us ,

but they are all a bunch of pussies cause they don't want to give up there points ,

So you're saying it's just a coincidence blitz chooses low ranking partners, or that nearly all the highest ranked people on the scoreboard play almost exclusively doubles and triples.

And if you're shouting about scared, ask any of the highranking players to start an open standard game.

I'd take up your offer were I not quitting.
