I'm reasonably sure that these are international soccer teams based on their soccer association, which is by continent. However teams are not necasarrily restricted to the federation of their continent and alternative arrangements can be made. ATM Australia is part of the Asian Cup, meaning that they are within Asia's soccer federation.Lufsen75 wrote:Why are australia in asia when it should be in oceania?

The main reasons for this is to give a bit more competition between good teams. Say you had a great team in North America (I know there aren't, but oh well) they would probably be more inclined to play in competitions with the South America soccer federation as they are much stronger. If you really want to know why Australia joined Asia as opposed to Oceania, then go ask them.
Australia moved to the AFC at the start of this year, to increase their chances of qualifying for future World Cups. (It's a bit easier to come 4th or 5th in Asia, than to win a playoff against the 5th best team in South Anmerica)Lufsen75 wrote:Why are australia in asia when it should be in oceania?
