Well, it is not a question of physically following Jesus but adhering to his teachings and philosophy which does not advocate the murder of innocents. Xians follow the NT for their major teachings. And when it comes to Bibles...there isn't any Bible that is in its original state. It all has been altered here and there to suit the elite in power at the time. The only teachings that have not been chopped and diced are the Quran and the Teachings of BUddha. So if you want a more untainted point of view, you should go to these sources, but it is not to say that the NT doesn't have some good philosophies in life. Acutually my phavorite philosophy is the Wiccan Reed: If it harms none, do as you will. Such a clear teaching that can be followed by anyone.

If every christian lived by the bible, you would have this:

Ok I can see why you are so frightened of this. I know when I have to go before the priests and judges in the temple it is with fear and trepidation in case the christians have to kill me for refusing to perform the sacrifices.

Oh how many times have there been people slaughtered by those murderous christians for putting in a little over time on Saturdays. That must be why more deaths and wars have been purpetrated by them than other religions. Like yourself I personally fear being cut off from the Iraelite community too.

Actually there is no clear proof (many unproven allegations though) that the Bible was ever "altered". The Dead Sea Scrolls should have laid that argument to rest, at least for the Old Testament, as the manuscripts discovered were over a thousand years old, and were virtually (only minor syntax differences) unchanged from what we have today. While the Quran was made by one man, and contradicts itself again and again, the Bible was written by numerous individuals from semi literate shepherds and fishermen to princes and kings, yet there is (again despite unproven allegations) no contradiction to be found.
I myself don't follow the Lord, having foolishly given up after doing so for 14 years because i was so disgusted with the hypocritical clown show that is the church, but i saw way too much in that 14 years to disbelieve what is in the Bible. There is no book that comes close to it, and the Quran is a comic book compared to it.

If i had a religion, i would probably be islam.

It's easy, all you have to do is say the Shahada (declaration of faith) three times and then take a bath (washing your whole body, including sniffing water up your nose and blowing it out three times). After this, you are considered a Muslim and all your previous sins are totally forgiven! So reverts are at a bit of an advantage to lifers as far as being able to be accepted into Jannah (Paradise). If you want to know the Shahada, here it is:

La Illaha Illa Allah, Muhammad Rasool Allah!

If you have ever watched the 13th Warrior, this is what Antonio Banderas writes in the sand for King Olaf, and this is what it means:

Now say this three times and go take a bath, then you can pray five times a day, quit eating BBQ Babybacks, start giving Zakhat (Tithe of income that is supposed to go to the needy, like...HAMMAS!) and starve yourself throughout the month of Ramadan.
