I like how the map is now. You don't have to start all over, just fix the "whatevers" and leave it alone. If you want a new map so bad make a new map and leave the old ones how they are.
We would if we could, but no one has the original editable file (like a Photoshop file) that could make these slight changes. Unless lack or lack's brother or whoever made the map has it. There's not much you can do with a flat image (like a jpeg). Anyway, whoever does the revamp will probably try to make the map pretty close to the original, but still fix whatever needs to be fixed.

There is an original somewhere since Lack had JUST added a line to show a connection in it. What is wrong with this map that would make people want to change it so much? If it was such a horrible map it wouldnt be the number 1 played map....

I then got thinking, well why not?

I thought to myself maybe the community would support i revamp if i done it myself, and done it in the style of the board game map.

The image would be no larger than the current map and it would reduce some of the colorblind issues present on the current map. We would also elimenate the army circles over terr names issue.

There is nothing official about a classic revamp i just want to hear opinion.
Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.

What connection? Not that I don't believe you, I'm just wondering.

risk trying reading the full thread before deciding to comment. There is NO draft for a classic revamp, this thread is only for discussion, tel has posted what he would do.
I have not posted anything. Well not in the form of a map anyway.
Hes thinking me...

Thats easy to do with a flat image. Changing the shadows of the blue in europe on the other hand.....

Im not scared of competition, nor do i feel "Uniquely suited" to carry out the revamp.

I have pitched my idea with the intent of carrying it out if the community would support me.

I have made my opinion on a competition clear, doesnt mean that i wouldnt carry out the revamp competition if thats the direction the community wanted it to go.

mibi may i suggest you drop the smart arse 1 liners? and acctually read what is being said?

DiM's ideas are different i wont deny it (bless him its how i win my points) but he is an awesome graphic artist.

looking back i would like to see a few different desiigns then a choic, but this also has the problem of only people wo visit the forums can see it

Sorry, but the tone of your comments in this thread seem to suggest that only you are suitable to handle a revamp because 'you can handle the criticism' whereas others cannot. Couple that with your attempts at railroading a competition for revamping and you can easily see how myself and others have misjudged your intentions.

I am not being a 'smart arse' but if you can't even handle this level of criticism your chances of surviving a revamp seem bleak.

If i wanted to be a 'smart arse' I would make some remark about your questionable use of question marks, but I won't. ;)

I vote no because I much rather that if this did ever happen it would be a contest and not just one person does it because they want to.

Edit: And no I didn't read anything anyone else said, that's my initial opinion.
Warning: You may be reading a really old topic.

The map is called classic for a reason. If things would look/function better if they were tweaked a bit, then do just that, don't redo the whole thing. The file is available, so tweaking should be simple. There's no need to get revamp-happy. How about pouring all that energy into one of the hundreds of map ideas already put out there that no one is working on?
