To compare it to what I do:
If there was some major screw up at my restaurant and shortly afterwards another very similar one. If I had a dining room full of people who were waiting for their food for the second time in a rather short period of time, I wouldn't exactly expect a standing ovation when I finally got them their food.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't allow any new customers in, or offer them the choice to order menu items that required the broken steamer or grill top to prepare either.
Perhaps with limiting speed games, and not letting new non subscribing members join....hell even suspending their ability to play for the time being, the members that pay to keep this site up wouldn't be so upset.

It appears the new server and its new location is running smoothly.
Hopefully now Lack can get onto more important things!

Actually we haven't switched to the new server yet, just moved to a different location. The switch should happen this week.

so the tweaks under the hood are holding up it seems. Just goes to prove the old adage about necessity being the mother of invention.
Due to current economic conditions the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off

The last downtime was to move the whole server setup to another cabinet which could handle the beast of a DB server we are adding.
This downtime is to actually migrate all the data from the old server to the new one and start using the beast.
The performance boost you've seen is simply from tweaks to the DB, expect even better performance when the site comes back online

I'll ride on and tame the beast if I must.
