Dude, if you don't care about the nature of the universe, then GFY somewhere else. You're purposefully walking into a room where people are discussing a subject you aren't interested in and complaining. Nobody's forcing you to read. Now shoo! *waves hands in a distracted shoo-ing motion*jonesthecurl wrote:umm, the guy who started this thread retired hurt some time ago. Yep in real life we can steer well clear of the religious zealots ( most of the Christian ones are in the USA anyway ) and indeed most other mentaly unstable types. Sadly though this site does not have any retard filters so I am often assaulted with a barrage of verbal garbage, this means I need to defend myself.deronimo wrote:QFTprotectedbygold wrote:Just another point though, most atheists don't behave the way the ones on this site do.

Its listening to people like you that made us stop drowning witches and burning heretics ( and people we owed money to and had wifes we wanted to shag ) Shame on you and your new fangled waysjonesthecurl wrote:umm, the guy who started this thread retired hurt some time ago. I've got friends who believe in God and those who don't. They're both able to act civil towards each other. I tend to believe that there isn't a god but don't try to ridicule those who do.
It's rather strange how things like this differ between regions. In Minnesota, where I reside, the atheists are the ones who are the "religous" fanatics. They're the ones preaching on the street corners, ridiculing other beliefs, trying to convert others to their lack of faith. It's weird how the athiests are the ones with the Holier-Than-Thou attitude. And I find it ironic how they've become the thing they stand against. Clearly it isn't all atheists, because I have several atheist friends who are very respectful of other faiths. But here I have never seen a religious person doing the above mentions things.protectedbygold wrote:

Bullshit. Pictures please.Grooveman2007 wrote:It's rather strange how things like this differ between regions. In Minnesota, where I reside, the atheists are the ones who are the "religous" fanatics. Wait...you have never seen a religious person on the streetcorner? Never seen a soapbox preacher? Never seen Jehovas Witnesses knocking on doors? Never seen the religious billboards about gods & hell?Grooveman2007 wrote:

I agree 100% IF they keep it to themselves and don't try to force me or my kids to believe in their cult practices. But many (not all) christians don't! They want their rituals in public schools. They want their ancient texts on courthouse walls. They want to perform rites before High School Football games, etc. Go to your home/church and pray away. Pray before you eat your Big Mac. Pray in the car on the way to work. Pray during your hourly cigarette break (Jay).Grooveman2007 wrote:But, whatever, someone's faith is their own business.

Even If true...those people aren't atheists. Atheists have no religion (look up the word) and don't preach on street corners. "Convert people to their lack of faith?" What kind of bass-ackwards statement is that?!![]()
Honestly...atheists don't have the time to preach on street corners and could care less what magic you believe in! Religious people cannot fathom the fact that Atheists have none. They have to label it a religion...a "religion of non-belief", etc. It's funny really. There is no Atheists church (other than the one wacko website Jay always touts), no bibles, no doctrines, nothing. We generally don;t get together and talk about atheists stuff...that would be too much like a religion.![]()

You just aren't paying attention.

Just don't make me participate or pay for it. I am not superstitious and don't believe in fairy tales.
I would love to see some actual pics of these real live "Militant Atheists" "converting their non-beliefs" on the streetcorner.Grooveman2007 wrote:I apologise I meant to say Militant Atheists, which are quite different from atheists. sorry.

No, see, the key to winning a debate is being correct. You fall short of this.Gregrios wrote:That's absolutely right! So far there has been a selected few who have insulted my intelligence, will, personality, and belief system but yet I harbor no ill will towards any of you.![]()
This leads me to my next point.![]()
This has been very entertaining to read as I honestly get a good laugh at how some of you stoop down to a level of pure insults inorder to pee me off.![]()
....but the BEST PART of it is that I don't even have to say a word and I'm still winning this debate.
You're doing that just fine on your own.Gregrios wrote: So far there has been a selected few who have insulted my intelligence,
I wouldn't say you've won any debate. You've only exposed how those who disagree with you act. I, for one, would enjoy an actual discussion with a Muslim, Christian, Mormon, or any person of faith without hearing the tired old 'you're an idiot for not being an atheist like me' routine. I doubt anyone could give me a good reason for believing in God and changing my mind, but at least it would be a step up from what's being thrown out here in Chatter Box.Gregrios wrote:So far there has been a selected few who have insulted my intelligence, will, personality, and belief system but yet I harbor no ill will towards any of you.![]()

If you got to know some outside of this website you'd probably see that most are very reasonable people and actually quite nice. They don't preach anything and just live their lives.Grooveman2007 wrote:It's weird how the atheists are the ones with the Holier-Than-Thou attitude.
I got tired of discussing when I realized that if it wasn't a trivial response then it was an insult that I was getting for trying to explain a certain topic.protectedbygold wrote:I wouldn't say you've won any debate. It got old very fast. I've just got no interest in being patronized or insulted just for the enjoyment of others.![]()
I've never met anyone like SOME of the atheists on CC who have such a hate for God. Personally I think the younger the atheist, the more hate there is but that is just a loose observation.![]()
I would enjoy a serious dicussion but it just doesn't seem to happen on here.![]()
As for the topics I tryed to discuss. I got burned out, so I guess I lost.![]()
I'll concede for now.
It's an incredibly stoopid observation. We hate god as much as we hate the tooth fairy. Obviously.Gregrios wrote:
