I really like the Romania silver. It does now look like a brain a bit.

Also, you should always put the latest version and possibly links to older versions in the first post, it makes it much easier.

Hey PB.

Whadya think about stair stepping the bonus regions listing? Shortest to longest.

That would put Bucuresti at bottom.

And how would the topo look with the rivers without the added color?

Tnx jeff,
I like that idea about the bonus text. Will do. =D>
I do not understand what you are saying about the rivers though.

Mmmm. the armies in Constanta and Tulcea? (sorry, can't quite read some of those names proprely ;) ) are isolated and can't attack anywhere else?

I think he intends on putting a bridge there.

you still need to pop the montains out more. Making them more gray instead of the color of the bonus regions would help.

Pork,

Can you place a bridge between Tulcea and Braila, across the Danube?

Also, Romania's mountains get lots of snow. How about coloring the mountain tops on each side of the adjoining judete snow white, but not the passes? This would mean the snowed-under peaks would be unpassable, but the snow free areas would be passes. I think this would work well with the map.

One element which we could add is to give bonuses for super-regions, roughly equivalent to the historical regions of Romania.

Valachia (Oltenia and Muntenia): + 11
Moldova Mare (Moldova and Dobrogea): +11
Carpatia (Crisana, Banat and Transylvania): +15

Or, if you prefer, this means that, in addition to the bonuses already on the map,

Valachia gives 2 extra armies
Moldova Mare gives 2 extra armies and
Carpatia gives 3 extra armies.
This would work really well with the mountains and rivers and would bring an added element of balance and strategy. What do you think?

Very excited to see this move forward!

Please copy/paste your last update also in the first post of this thread with all the required informations.
All the old images can be posted with links only.

Do not include every old version of the map in the first post, as this makes the post slow and difficult to navigate on smaller displays; links to old versions will suffice.
If you could please update it that would be great. ;)

Foregone's romania map was much better than this - shame he disappeared just when it was about to be quenched.

That depends on your perspective:

I am just looking at this map for the first time and I know I'm saying this very late in the day, but come on guys!

Is it possible that no one commented about the colour scheme of this map before? I honestly don't have time to read the 20 pages but as you know I am colour blind and it's basically impossible for me to distinguish between the regions of this map. Only after looking at it with a magnifying glass for 5 minutes can I trace the borders.

This shortfall would render this map totally unplayable for me. The colours used are way too similar to each other. Granted...I think the map maker is trying to get an "old paper" effect and it's nice but what's the use if some people can't play the map. Any chance of looking into this issue before it's quenched some day? Thanks.
I think Pork's map addresses that and makes for a more colorful, fun map to play on. No to mention some blatant terminology errors: since when is the Banat region part of Transylvania?

Hey Pork, check out this map:

See how he did the impassable mountain peaks? Could we not do the same here? Just a thought... Hope you're well.. See you soon again....

Yes, I have already tried that. It came out looking about the same as this map. I was not totally pleased with it, but I was going to try again to see if I could make it work. I may have to many irons in the fire.
And to top it off, they locked my favorite project. I am a little dejected at the present, and wondering if I am just wasting my time with trying to make a map in THIS Foundry. :(
Oh, I am OK today. Thank you for asking. 8-)

Because not everyone is a mapmaking god who can just pull finished and polished maps out of their rear ends? Some people actually need the feedback and support of their peers to help develop a map that matches the CC standards?

Ready to be presented ≠ ready to be quenched.

That said, it's not like the map isn't Drafting Room-worthy…

Even if it wasn't... lots of great maps have started out with a first draft that looks like cat vomit. Especially when the maker has little to no previous experience.
