I was very impressed with the Horns. I'll admit it they played a great game especially when you consider that their starting qb and biggest playmaker was out. though, gilbert played decent once he settled down and it would have been a closer game if his receivers had caught a couple of catchable balls.king sam wrote:4 real I couldn't be happier with the performance from my horns..
Bama fans around the nation were scared the way the game started until Colt went down in the 5th play of our 1st series.
Texas up 6-0 and then they gave up on themselves and let slide 2 td's, 1 by Ingram and 1 long one by Richardson.
Plus Greg Davis ans his BS offensive calling didn't help Gilbert (a true freshman). Its fairly easy for any defense let alone a top ranked one to stop a offense that you know is going to run it on 1st and 2nd down every series. Although I blame the pick 6 before the half on Gilbert, he should have ate the sack rather then thrown that rb shuffle pass.
Either way after his 1st td pass after the half to Shipley Gilbert started clicking until the BS calls on Texas by the Big East refs after the kickoff recovery.
I was confused about the pass interference in that game throughout. At first I thought it was just blatantly Bama pr0-officials than later they failed to call a pass interference against Texas later.looking back at the calls and non-calls all the missed pass interference calls aoccured on the same side of the field and I think by the same official. The one that was called against Texas was on the other side of the field...possibly coincidence and it definitely hurt Texas.king sam wrote:non call on defensive pass intf call on the right corner guarding shipley
non call on defensive pass intf call again on the right corner guarding williams
call on texas for defensive pass intrf on the next series when ball was un catchable
Go back and look at that play. No one grabbed Richardson's facemask however one guy had grabbed hold of one of Bama's linemen's facemask.king sam wrote:calas as ifl on texas for illeagal hands to face on sergio when replay showed no hands touched richardson's facemask
1:41 on the clock. Texas has 1 timeout..Saban couldn't run out the clock by taking knees and if he had tried that and settled for the field goal it would have still been a 2 score game. The way Texas played that half and on special teams throughout, 2 scores even with that much limited time was not enough to seal the deal. I had no problem with him keeping his guys into play.king sam wrote:I do think its horseshit though that when Ingram took in the TD to be up by 10 and then have Gilbert throw another pick with less then 2 minutes on the clock and Texas with only 1 timeout Saban should have kneeled it out but instead he pushed Richardson in for another td to be a d-bag..
You guys played a heck of a game and there was nothing to be disappointed in.king sam wrote:But for a while there bama fans were scared of Texas's comeback, with a 18 year old that maybe had 20 snaps all season leading our offense, I couldn't be happier. I was honestly concerned for next year and continuing on our presence but with the development that I saw gilbert go through tonight I'm fairly certain Texas will be a force to be reckoned with again next year even with losing some very very key players on both sides of the ball.
10 bowl games 6-4 record (with one of our losses being a complete mismatch (unranked UT vs 11 VT?)) and 2-0 in BCS. Come back next year and then you can argue conference bragging rights.king sam wrote:You guys almost lost to our freshman QB... lol.. I cant honestly say the SEC is sooo dominant after I saw that. I actually blame at least one of those picks on the receiver. Wasn't the best thrown pass but at least one of those two guys should have caught it. And the fumble, there was nothing he could do to prevent the fumble. You're set back to pass so the ball's already in a vulnerable position and the guy blindsides you...hard. that ball was destined to pop out.oVo wrote:It's hard to overcome 5 turnovers and losing your starting QB on the first series of a game
Agreed. Hats off to Texas...admittedly I thought the game was over at half time...oVo wrote:It was the Alabama Defense that saved the day

Again agreed. Texas came out ot play in this game and they gave Alabama all it could handle.oVo wrote:Hats off to Alabama for finishing 14-0 and winning a National Championship

At some point I'm gonna have to stop agreeing with you but again I agree.oVo wrote:It was a far better game than the final score indicates, but it was certainly a disappointment
not seeing Colt McCoy get to play out his final game as a Longhorn.

Six is more than four... even at the University of Wyoming.

How did I not see that part. If Colt had been it in, it would have been a closer game but it's not a black and white proposal. Alabama would have had a different defensive strategy to help contain McCoy. There would have been a much higher probability of them winning but you can't prove it.oVo wrote:But BCS ranking makes it an upset all the same, so YOU ARE WRONG BUSTER!strike wolf wrote:Finally something to disagree with you on. even with that Gilbert stays in the pocket and delivers a perfect pass to shipley for his 2nd td to pull the game within 3.
I think greg davis took the wrong approach on that last drive, making bama punt and texas having 3 minutes on the clock down by 3 i think he should have stuck with the dink and dunk theory down the field, but instead he drew up a play that took time to develop and a bama lineman snuck in and sacked Gilbert and he fumbled to pretty much seal the game.
I do think its horseshit though that when Ingram took in the TD to be up by 10 and then have Gilbert throw another pick with less then 2 minutes on the clock and Texas with only 1 timeout Saban should have kneeled it out but instead he pushed Richardson in for another td to be a d-bag..

Oh please. You can't be ignorant enough to not think that game was closer than the final score, which says a lot about Alabama considering Texas didn't have their Heisman finalist after the first drive. You saw with your own eyes how terrible Alabama's offense was when Ingram got hurt, so you should know ALL about one player's effects on a team.colton24 wrote:Didn't know one player made up the entire team.king sam wrote:You guys almost lost to our freshman QB... lol.. very true. McElroy was a bit rattled. Combine that with a great effort by the secondary to cover receivers...It's not a good day for passing. I'll give him the thumbs up because he did regain some of his composure as the game went on and he didn't throw a pick.Neoteny wrote:To be fair, Alabama played most of their game without a QB too.

At least I was honest in my response of why Saban was going for it. I didn't feel that a 10 to 13 point lead with probably under a minute to play could guarrantee Bama the win the way Texas had come back in the 4th quarter and it's Saban's job to win the game and leave no chance for a comeback.Woodruff wrote:Oh, please do shut up, Colton.colton24 wrote: Way to be a sore loser.
