People getting kicked out

Today I got a bit frustrated.. You spend time on a game, building something, then suddenly 'key players' get kicked out for missing turns (while another person is strong at that time), and the whole game is out of balance! It's like the game is over, why continue to play?

Ofcourse we have to relevate, and its just a game, but perhaps there is another solution to this problem?

Kind regards,
J.

Maybe players kicked out could click a button to rejoin the game if they still have territories. So the players still in the game have to think about that with their play, and it doesn't completely ruin the dynamic.

I'm sorry, but that is a terrible idea.

Say a person deadbeats after 3 or 4 rounds, nobody is going to bother taking out what is now neutral territories all over the map. So you ignore all of them, then on round 10 that player magically clicks a button and is back in, totally throwing off the balance of the game.

By the time a player has missed 2 turns, I stop worrying about them (so long as they have no bonuses in case they do happen to come back). It's just the way it is.

Anyone who has missed 2 turns in a row is no longer a "key player".

You didn't notice they missed 2 turns consecutively? What was it that went out of balance?

Edit: I think Aradhus was being sarcastic and what does relevate mean?

It's true mostly people who miss two turns are not key players, but sometimes they are..
I'm playing game 6020660 where the situation is that the player who is now kicked out has Europe, well defended (29 armies on it), this makes it for 'weaker' players unconquerable and for the strongest player (who has Africa) a gift to a lousy win, he doesn't have to protect that border anymore and can use all those armies to kick our butt ;) So it suddenly got totally out of balance!

Now hitting a magic button to get back in is indeed impossible, wouldn't be good for the game.. I'd rather suggest something like:
- when you miss a turn your 'deserved armies' (minus..%) are randomely spread over your fields..
- when you miss a turn your 'deserved armies' (minus..%) are randomely spread over your fields with the most armies on already..
- you can miss 4 rounds but then you're deffinately gone..

That's even worse... players getting their armies while not having to do anything? Delay tactics FTW!

A player got kicked out on my game at the moment: 5978329
Our game is now totally out of balance with the other player on his team twice as strong as he used to be and is now easily capable of winning the game. How exactly is that fair?

It is difficult. The reasons are to stop teams (i.e the other player - it wasn't his fault) being unduly punished.

But your team has to, attack him, break bonuses, and hang on in there.
Actually your team is winning if you can stop any disasters for 1 or 2 rounds then your double team (double bonus / double cards) counts.

I think it's because there is no "fair" option as all games are different, and it wasn't the guys fault his teammate screwed up.

How would it be fair to him if he lost all the armies? I was in a quads where my 3 partners were kicked for being multi's. Would it have been fair to me if i suddenly had to go 4v1, in round 2?

If a player gets kicked then any territories held should be reduced to 3 or less troops. This makes them conquerable.

I recently finished a game where a new player stacked 8 troops on a key territory and then didn't play. This was early in the game so all players were able to adjust their strategies. It is not worth it to defeat 8 neutral armies.
