Has anyone seen this new Avatar film yet?
Is it any good?
If so, did you watch it with 3D specs?
Should I seek out a cinema that is showing it in 3D?

I probably will be going to see it this weekend in Omaha, so I won't be able to tell you until next weekend about what I think of the movie. The trailers look spectacular, and I am sure that the IMAX is the place to get the most out of this film. I just got back from Star Wars: In Concert in Omaha, now my brother wants to drive back down there and see this movie, because we don't have IMAX's in our area, so we have to make a major road trip anytime we want to see stuff like this...It really puts the hurting on the old money belt. Maybe my brother needs to move closer to a bigger city?

Tell me Wendy, how many smurfs' lives is it worth to continue collecting your smurf berries?

Now, I'm one for always judging a movie by it's trailers, and Avatar just looked abso-f******-lutely horrendous.

Then again, I've never actually SEEN the movie so my opinion is worth a pile of dog s*** (which is worth a billion dollars apparently).

it sux, some guy breaks his legs and the government says they'll fix them.... for a price. The price is that they turn him into a gay looking alien and send him to frolick on some dumb planet for like 2 hours. THe end.

I've actually heard that even people who wanted to hate this movie loved it. The reviews about mostly seem pretty positive as well.

I think it turned out better than everyone expected, though can't say for certain, not having seen it.

YES.

See it in 3D. Cameron invented a whole new camera (stereoscopic) just to make this film. You are cheating yourself if you don't make the trip to a 3D IMAX theater.

I'm already planning to go see it again in IMAX 3D. It might not be the greatest story ever told, but Cameron is never boring, and always keeps his audience engaged. This is definitely an "event" movie. Do not miss your window of opportunity.

I'll assume you're too stupid to understand that was an action movie.

... It's cost more than any other film in history to make. It should be worth watching.

... I'll just download it, it's probably already up on the servers.

...

I've actually seen it. He's got the basic jist of it but he's wrong about the finer points, ie the hero agrees to the program BEFORE they offer to fix his legs. He doesn't agree to the program "for a price," as Tubby put it. There's a lot more to it than that.

If you hate America you will love this film. It's kind of like Fern Gully meets Custard's Last Stand.

Politics aside, I give it a 9/10..

Saw it in 3D. Effects were surprisingly good, and it's the nice 3D and not the crappy red and blue lenses. Decent antagonist, and the action sequences were very nice. The landscape was definitely enhanced by 3D.

Dances with smurfs is an apt name. This film borrows very heavily from about a dozen other films, to the extent that you constantly feel you've seen it all before. Which you have, just not with the fancy effects... It's predictable, mostly un-original and yet... I quite liked it! Nowhere near as good as all the hype suggested, and once you've seen one special effect you've kinda seen 'em all but it's not completely rubbish.
