Can you play in your own tournament?

I've been looking at hosting and playing tournaments, but no one has made a tournament that interests me. Do i have to wait until i get lucky, or can i host a tournament and play in it at the same time?

However, it is recommended not to play in your tournament where the lines for winning are not clear. Helps if one of the participants do not agree with you.

I'll be doing a pretty basic tournament at first with standard rules and victory conditions. Shouldn't be a problem.
