ok, it is becoming ever clearer that I am becoming an old fart, I have never been politically correct, nor do I see the reason to be.
I grew up in a neighborhood where people were called not my their names, but by some kind of often derogatory nick name associated with ones nationality. Archie Bunker was not a fictional charachter on television, but rather a neighbor of mine. I believe that all this P.C. nonsense is leading to the pussyfication of todays youth, that and not legally being allowed to give a kid a good crack when he deserves it.

Anyways, this is not intended to see how "blue" you can get, and I hope we get the mods and the administrators involved with this discussion. In the old days of C.C. in the game chat it was like the old west, anything goes, say what you wanted with no real fear of repurcussions short of possibly being foed by an opponent. I intend this to be a game chat specific discussion, I realize that the forums are a different animal, a horse of another color if you will.

Again, I ask for the mods and admins. to be apart of this discussion so we can have an official list of whats not allowed to be said in game chat.

Recently it was brought to my attention that calling someone a "Fag" will result in disciplinary actions so lets put that on the list, although I do not understand why that wouldnt be allowed, I have a child hood friend, known him since 1978 who is homosexual and he is not bothered by me calling him a fag, perhaps its the context, what about the term fag hag?

anyways lets have a discussion here, please explain why your word should go on the list.

Personally I try to avoid profanities when not talking to friends/team mates (and even then quite rarely). If I remember the rules correctly they are rather vague, just state not to be intentionally annoying. The *very few* times I've felt the need to express my anger at the dice or whatever with words that may be offensive to some people I've censored myself; f***ing, or even ****ing. not sure if there's much point to that

I've never felt the need to use such language against another player, I'd like to believe my vocabulary and intelligence doesn't pose such restrictions upon me, and feel sorry for those that need to resort to such language on a daily basis to express themselves...

I don't think there should be any punishment for using profanities in general; ie when talking about dice, drop, the weather etc.

As for profanities and/or bigotry directed against another player, either we allow everything, or nothing. Either the mods look the other way and tell people to "suck it up cupcake", or punish all offences, from a-hole to the c-word. Punishing all offences means a lot of work, but if the punishments were harsh, and repeat offenders could be kicked out, then it might be worth it, fore really, the kind of people that go around calling others derogatory terms every other day are not people that will be missed. Their swift departure would leave CC a better place for all.

i have never received a ban for words such as pillowbiter, puppytoucher, or assranger.

so those words are all safe.

lolol. I believe you have uncovered a loop hole. Guess the mods will have to use their discretion in re of ass clown usage now.

Hey CC when I used the phrase "ass clown" it was in re of this guy so I think you owe me a reversal of that warning I was issued cuz he does exist...

I know that this thread is at least partially sardonic, but actually, I think this is a very good idea. The best way to enforce a rule against bad language is to have an explicit list of what is and is not allowed, because with multiple moderators governing this, there could be cases of inconsistency. Of course, as is shown here, people can get quite creative with their language, but there are vulgar words that are used often enough such that at least for those, we can determine which ones are allowed and which ones are not. I hope that something useful does come out of this thread.

Now, as to the topic...I believe those words that are routinely considered to be bigotry, such as nigger and faggot would not be allowed in game chat.

The difference may have been that in colton's case, it was entirely accurate.

All I know is I should be able to call a DUMB ASS a DUMB ASS so I hope those two words do not end up on this list.

I've seen people like demonfork say some of the worst possible words a human being can come up within a lot of his game chat, but he only got warnings as far as I know.

It's because a certain mod had just been given his new powers and apparently didn't like Serbia. I've never seen anyone banned for the word "moron", before. It's an actual classification of intelligence... according to that, calling someone an "idiot" is worse than calling someone a "moron". I'd highly doubt anyone would be banned for "idiot".

Regardless, we all know how great the recent round of additions has proven to be! Just ask happy2seeyou!
