1903 Tour de France - Winner: Marshallbobby / Contador

Well, there's a first time for anything. So my first Tournament will be designed after the first Tour de France, which goes back to 1903. French bastard Maurice Garin took 3 of the 6 stages and the overall classification. In those days, the french actually were able to perform in their own Tour ;).

Set up:
All players will play 6 games, according to the 6 stages of the 1903 TdF. Every game will be Terminator, Sequential, Automatic, No Spoils, Chained & Foggy. So every stage will consist of three separate 8 player games, filled up using random.org. Depending on speed of play, stage 2 will start 1 or 2 weeks after stage 1, and so on.

How to win the 1903 Tour de France?
Now the scoring part makes this one interesting... Your result in every stage is based on the number of points you win/loose in that specific game. After both games in a stage are finished, every player will have a game score. The player who performed best will be declared stage winner. For every single point you performed worse than the stage winner, you will loose 1 second in the General Classification.

A simple example with 4 players:
A won 50 points
B won 12 points
C lost 15 points
D lost 23 points
Here player A has won the stage. B took second place, 38 seconds (points) down. C took third place, 1 minute and 5 seconds down. D took 4th place, 1 minute and 13 seconds down.
So yes, the higher your current score, the harder it will actually be to win this Tournament!
All players without a kill alive at the round cap (end of round 16) will receive a Game Score of -12.

To encourage attacking play, in every game you can gain Time Bonification. The first player to make a kill will receive a 20 second bonus, the 2nd player to make a kill will receive 12 seconds bonus and the third player to make a kill will receive 8 seconds bonus. Every player can only take one bonus in every single game.

With those settings you may want to consider a round cap (maximum amount of rounds per game) to avoid games going on forever....

In pls,

Picot

Since 1952,[2] after every stage the most combative cyclist was given an award, and an overall competition was recorded.[3] At the end of the 1956 Tour de France, André Darrigade was named the most attacking cyclist. [4] At this point, the award was given the same importance as the award for the cyclist with the most bad luck, Picot in 1956.

Nice! Runner up in two tages and points classification. In the years after he finished twice as 2nd and 3rd as well ;)
Had to look this one up though...
