Closing an account

I started playing this game in 2006 under a different name and hadn't played in a couple years when I came back the other day. I couldn't remember my username, and I've changed my email address since the last time I played. However, I just found my old username and verified it still works and I know the old password.

My question is, can I close/delete this account and use my old one to avoid multi-accounting or cheating accusations?

Technically you have just admitted to being a multi

Yes, not playing for 3 years and coming back and playing a new account for a few days... that is technically a multi. It is hardly, however, the spirit of a multi. If you have something helpful to contribute, I'm all ears, but trolls trolling trolls isn't what I'm here for.

Basically no, accounts cannot be closed, and you will be busted as a multi. However, after you are busted you will be able to return by buying premium on your original account if you choose.

jackals has been BUSTED with kc-jake.

Now the bust wasn't made just because of two accounts but he was playing games with both accounts.

Absolutely fucking pathetic!!

I can't believe some of this shit that the moderators on this site pull.. Has this guy played against himself?? NO!!!!

So what if he has played one or two games while both games are active.. To ban him for LIFE for this offense is fucking pathetic.. Please grow up and gain some sense of humanity..

As pointed out before he could come back if he pays for premium. He quite clearly ticked the box saying it will be his one and only account, as far as I'm aware he could have contacted admins before opening a second account.

Also people don't just create multi's to play themselves to gain points they also do it to get around the 4 game limit - therefore avoiding the premium charge to play more games. I believe that's the reason for making busted accounts buy premium to return..........

Two points. First, the site rules specifically state that a user cannot have more than one account. Even if that user is not using the additional account(s) to cheat, the extra account could be used to subvert the limit of four games for non-premium players. In order to protect the revenue stream, the admins must prevent players from getting around the game limits without paying. Second, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that he is not "banned for life." If he wishes to return, he can pay for premium on the first account which will then be reactivated.

As much as I don't want multis on the site, I feel bad for this guy. He knew he messed up and then remembered his old info and was looking to rectify the problem. And he promptly gets kicked off of the site.

He shouldn't have been playing games with both accounts, but I feel like something else could have been worked out.

i got to agree that its kind of a sad fact that the guy was banned... the guy was better off not to say anything and just stop using the new account... he could of deadbeated and let it slip into the back round... but because he tried to do the right thing u guys ban him... very sad imo...

Actually this guy would have been able to stay, had he not been playing games on both accounts. They would have just deleted this one and let him back on the other... but...

This is the internet sir, please calm down and stop taking everything so seriously.

Also, he was breaking the rules. Which clearly state (as mentioned before) that you can only have one account EVER.

I agree with what ES did (not that he needs my approval).

If someone goes into a store a buys a pair of shoes and takes a second pair without paying for them, is that OK? Because that is exactly what jake was doing. Stealing the services that this site offers.

I think your Sympathy for this guy is misplaced. I can't remember my pass word so I will start a new account just doesn't cut it. He could have use the link on the log in page or followed the instruction after clicking the link. My guess is he didn't even try to contact admin to try to recover his user name. But my biggest concern is why did he start games on both accounts. Why not send a PM or an e-ticket once he remembered his old account information.

This show the I can't log in link on the log in page.

This explains what to do if the I can't log in link doesn't help.

It's kinda obvious some of the "sympathetic" posters in this thread didn't understand that the dude was playing games on both accounts. The other two are likely feeling bad for the guy cuz it seems he came forward to try to do the right thing. (but it is kinda obvious he did not forget the old username or the password. Probably just started feeling guilty about it)

The guy broke the rules. He can honestly come back for $25. Sad thing is he will prob just make more accounts.

He couldn't use this, because he forgot his old email address too

This was his mistakes : not send a PM or an e-ticket, but post here

About the games with both account : his last turn with the new account was on Tuesday. Then he remembered his "old" account and asked how to delete the new account. About 1 hour later he started playing with the old account (easy to see from his games). My opinion is, he didn't want to play with the new account anymore, and began to use his old account. The problem was he had 2 or 3 active games with the new account. Maybe he wanted just abandoned these games, but he must miss 3 turns (need more than 3 days). But he had only 2 hours before being banned :(

Also I think is fairer to ban only 1 account and warn the other.

He said he "changed" his e-mail address, which may or may not mean he did not still have access to it. If he couldn't remember the username, he should have submitted an eTicket asking for help instead of just creating a new account.

The point was that he had active games on multiple accounts. Even if he remembered the info for the old account, starting games on it was definitely the wrong decision. The correct decision would have been to contact the staff (at any point during this process) to tell them that he wasn't trying to evade the multi rule, he had just legitimately forgotten his old account info.

you forget your username and/or password and changed email?? OK, it does happen, nobody will argue with that, but the instructions on the reset page are VERY clear

I doubt he'll become a full member now after being banned.

I certainly wouldn't come back.

Most of the time when someone defends a busted multi the say "but he wasn't using both accounts." Well this guys was using both accounts I know it might be a stretch but I think he knows how to read because his old account made over 200 posts.

If I had let this guy slide then the next guy gets busted. I would be accused of not being fair.

It's OBVIOUS the dude did not forget them. If he had forgotten he wouldn't have been able to use his old one...

Don't feel sorry for this guy. He knew what he was doing.

But I agree with what Semp said :

Let this guy slide will open another possibility to abuse the rules. Although it was hard, but like I said before :
