Question on Multiple Accounts

Is it true that multis are allowed to buy-back for any one of their accounts, and that they're no longer required
to go back to their original account? If so, is that really a wise policy?

This is really one for the C&A team, but I was under the impression it had to be the original account.

Does it make a difference if they buy back any of their accounts, anyway? :O

Absolutely, it does. As just one example...imagine someone with Major (the rank) or higher skills playing off of a one-striper account, and the amount of points they'll essentially be able to steal from people, particularly when those people won't recognize their name like they would the original (Major) account. It basically gives people the ability to change their username any time they want, simply by breaking the rules. So again, multi's are given a benefit, not a punishment.

Yes, I'm hoping one of them will find their way here (I thought it wasn't appropriate to put this in the C&A forum, since it's not an accusation of any sort).

I raised this very case with ES and was told it was an issue that needed to be raised with admin. I guess its not C and As department that handles premium purchases.
I then messaged KA and was told:

I can understand what you are saying but in this case, are we disputing a matter of 4 days from the first account to the one that was upgraded? Troy wood is only 4 days old from troy boi. For me, they were practically made on the same time.
Personally I thinks it a very bad prescedent, if its the first time. Also it means cheaters can change their user name but honest players can not. Plus it allows people to player with a lower level of displayed experience. In this case it may only have been 4 days but the cheater had 4 accounts so has 40 games removed from his record, all without even a point reset.
It would interesting for the site to say how often multis get to choose which account to use and how old an account has to be to be considered the original account.
Most importantly it would be worse to find out this kiddie said "ill only buy back on this account or I quit" so the site said fair enough just dont tell anyone that we are bending the rules for you as a reward for cheating.

The decision is wrong. It goes against the rules and precedent. I am not singling out any particular multi here but what is to stop this happening again. With this change of rule it will always be to the multis advantage and the detriment of the honest paying players.
I have only been playing here a while and it seems to me multis are the number one problem. This needs sorting out to prevent future abuse of this rule change or admin policy.

This is not to be seen as a setting precedent. We have forced some people to go and upgrade their original account in the past instead of upgrading their secondary account. If you see future similar situations, feel free to bring it to my attention.

If this is indeed happening, I would guess that it wasn't some noob threatening to leave if they didn't get their way but some veteran scumbag with connections doing so?

Why the inconsistency, though? Ok, I understand that in this particular case, the two usernames were created fairly close to one another. So it's not like there's a point differential that can be abused. I see that. Yet, by the same token, then there shouldn't be a problem with the user staying with his original user name. This seems to be a case of creating unnecessary inconsistency.
And if you want to claim that this DOESN'T set a precedent, then you absolutely are creating inconsistency, whether that is your intention or not.

I'm surprised a multi is EVER allowed to buy back an account. I thought they were supposed to get a lifetime ban.

Unfortunately a lot of people are caught as multis and continue to be respected by the rest of the cc community.

How?
Why?
I don't understand.
What could be the possible justification for creating a multi?

I say we keep this. This is the closest we'll ever be to a option to change your username.

You can change your username if you can show it reflects your true identity. In your case you may need to show you are a templar knight.

The current rules allow CC to make an additional $25.00. That may have something to do with it.

There are many. If you're a freemium like me, perhaps you want more games, for instance (rather than the limit of 4). Another for premiums might be that it allows you to practice on a particular map without the risk of your precious points. So there are a number of them. What's worse is the justification for allowing the cheaters to have their way, which is simply...money.

None of these "reasons" seem like a valid justification to me.
If you're Freemium and want more games... PAY!
Regarding points and ranking... I don't understand why anyone really cares. I don't give a flying f*ck about my points or ranking. I play for fun.
Yeah I wanna win and yeah I would like to have a higher rank. I float between Private and Sergeant... it'd be nice to be higher, but "risking a loss of points" ain't gonna stop me from playing a new map that's cool, or trying a different setting I haven't before. Shit... I got CREAMED in my first several "Trench Warfare" games. Seems petty to me to wanna set up a whole new account so I can play without "risk".
Isn't playing with "risk" the whole f**king point of the game????
The FIRST RULE on this site is NO MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS... finding out that that rule is just BS and hot air makes me sad and mad.

First of all, you didn't ask for "valid" justifications...you asked for "possible" justifications.

I agree...yet it is a common reason for multis to exist.

lackattack seems to feel that rules aren't important when there is money to be made.

Perhaps multiple accounts is an industry that CC depends and counts upon. If this is truly so wide spread as it appears then it could be a means for the owner/owners of this site to cash in on. In other words, "Mo money, Mo money, Mo, money!"
That being the case then, why should CC give the violator his old reputation when a new profile would usher the sinner back more easily into his old ways there by providing another bonus cash buy back for the the owner/owners of this site when the Cheating individual is caught again!
In still other words, It's all about, "Mo money, Mo money, Mo money!"
You can't have it both ways. If you punish the violator of the rules properly then you can not make as much money when they buy back because then they can not buy back according to common sence. But if you want to make money off of the cheating scumbag then you give him a slap on the wrist and allow him to buy back into a new profile so he can do it all over again.
Get it?
