Broken Air conditioner Concentration

Sorry, needed to vent somewhere, it's 97 degrees outside and my air conditioner broke. I'm planning a nice day for myself tearing it to peices with a baseball bat and an ax as soon as I get a new one. Anybody else try concentrating in the heat as it were? Or anybody want to buy a mostly destroyed A/C unit? I'll sell it really cheap.

As a resident of the Great White North, I think it ought to be illegal for Floridians to complain about the heat.

not me, hail comes and goes pretty quickly, and really isn't a bother (however the t-storms they're usually tied to can be a bother) ... heat w/high humidity is the worst.

how hot does England get?

When you turn the air conditioning on in your home? Should there be a small amount of water coming from the base of the unit inside the house? I can't figure out if it's the air conditioning unit or a leaking water heater?

Considering that the guy who originally made this thread has not played a game since 32,000 or so, and made this thread almost 3 years ago without posting anything since I've been here, I somehow get the feeling that your post is in vain for this particular CCer.

No AC should leak water inside. If it's a window unit, the frame that holds it tilts slightly away from the house for the condensation to drain. If it's central air (in the attic or crawl space above) there is usually a PVC pipe that leads from the unit to a spot outside of the house. Sometimes in the off season the pvc drain pipe get's clogged with mold or some other crud and requires clearing out to keep it from backing up and soaking the house. One way to accomplish this; find the pvc drain line outside and plug it with a rag, then go to the ac unit and the drain pipe has an open top (a vent) near it and pour a cup of draino or clorox into it. Let it sit a half hoUr or so before unplugging the drain outside. DO NOT FORGET TO REMOVE THE RAG OUTSIDE.

If you have central ac/heat... it may be obvious when you look at the unit where the vent is in the drain pipe, because if it's clogged with the unit running it will be backed up and overflowing.

Crazy bump... why not just start a new thread?

What if your central air is located outside the house? (by the way some stole my central air cover I had on it for the winter!!!! )

Could just be condensation on the cold metal. Clear it up and see how long it takes to be noticeable again. Then clear it up again and turn the unit off for the same amount of time. Any water now? If yes, leak, If no, condensation.
