I think the negative reaction of MOST Americans to Hess has had some impacts. Just because Americans CAN protest and criticize their country (and/or President) does NOT mean they must or should.

AND Let's not give an UNGRATEFUL person like him the opportunity take away Honor, Glory, and accolades for MOST of the GRACIOUS, Grateful, and wonderful YOUNG American Athletes who compete, represent America WELL, and some who win Medals.

There was a GREAT and moving news item on NBC (yes, the same Network COVERING the OLYMPICS on American TV) about how the Playing of the National Anthem invokes great pride and many great memories while on the Podium and as they receive their Gold Medals. The Gold Medals are ALL WELL Deserved and indicative of their and their Family's dedication and commitment to athletic EXCELLENCE, accomplishment, many many hours of PRACTICE, and hard work.

That is RUGGED individualism, enhanced by a wonderful support of FAMILY, close Friends, and Community as well as the NATION.
