A better way to post game numbers/passwords (also searching)

So, I saw someone else do this in a tourney and think it's a great idea... I've modified it a little bit to add in the password as well...
If you provide a <url> link </url> with [ ]'s in the message body, you can send them to the following page
http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?m ... =%PASSWORD%
replacing the %'s with the actual game number and password, and it's a single click link to join the game. Best thing until the new php is integrated, easy to do from our end and saves MUCHOS time at the players end.
Hope you all take it on

oh, and for those that use the cc mass messenger, the above format works but you will need to alter the caps words to whatever is at the top of your table.

The big problem you run into with this Tieryn is that if you create links that directly join games in your thread you are bound to have players that just click and join who aren't supposed to.

That one won't exist, try it without the password bit, and just put a game number in there.
OP, I'm combining this with the mass messenger, sending each person a personalised PM with -only- their game and link to it with their password. No-one will see the link except the players in that game. If they give it out, it's the same as if they gave out the game number and password, can't beat that, but it'll make them joining games easier. even in the format..

it will work, but they they'll have to add in the password themsevles. Of course this will not work (with passwords included) if you are sending a group message with all the game numbers in it. It needs to be specific, player directed messages that the mass messenger allows.

Ooooh, I see what you mean then. For some reason I thought you were suggesting putting those links in the tournament threads, which would be a disaster.

no, completely, haha, yes, as a public post it would cause mayhem and havoc, but as directed pm's, it's incredibly useful, actually, I'll just quote some response from the last tourney I just posted them out with (Battle of the Bands)

Yes the link worked perfect, nicely done
It works, and it makes the tournament players life a little easier, and then they're willing to do more favours for you.

As an addenum to this process that I just worked out, for games such as my doubles league where I want them to check that they are in the right place before joining, the following link will take them to the game number specified in the game finder (follow this link to see)
http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?p ... mit=Search
Replace the 1000000 with the game number of their game, or using mass messenger, %gamenum% or whatever.

When i hosted my only tournament, i had a link on the first post to the option to pm the participants. Here is a example.

Here is the link to my
tournament thread
It really helped when i camt to pm them because i didnt have to go through the whole thread again to find them.

Surely the sign of a good tourney is one that the players enjoy participating in. Sure we're not being paid, but it's still about the service. The easier you can make it, the better. Plus, if you're using the Mass Messenger, it's 0 extra work (cause you just copy/paste the link) and it's x% extra for the participants.

Now that's a good idea mate, I like it
You could also add &subject=Militants%20Italy%20Tournament
So the basis of the subject is also added to each one, and you just have to add in "round 1" or whatever.
