The absence of really fast tournaments...

I was wondering if we could collectively work on having speed tournaments every once in a while. I know it's a lot for one person to manage but I'd love to help. Maybe set a time a few days in advance and let as many people join as are able and let it rip.

I admit I didn't bother to see if this had already been discussed. I'm just desperately seeking some sort of stress relief and our current tournaments tend to last months.

I've got some plans in the works, but I have to find a day in the future when I can sit and dedicate a few hours to running the whole thing from start to finish without having any distractions.

I had planned a "need for speed" tourney earlier in the year, but it fell through when I discovered that speed games disappear after 15 minutes. I then planned a "need for speed" night, but not enough people said they were interested, however I think that was mostly due to the timing (leading up to xmas/new year).

I'd be happy to help run this, and I think a, perhaps monthly, time set in advance where there is a speed tourney organised would be excellent. I think weekly would be a huge undertaking, (unless it was in a set format, 16/32 players depending on interest, simple elimination, etc).

I'm sure it's runnable, and would be happy to help, and I think it's a great idea, but it needs to be advertised well (perhaps on the home page/main page?) rather than just in the tourney forum if it's to get enough people.
