Absinthe mixer

So after my Thai dinner tonight, I crack open a bottle of absinthe and decide to crawl therein.
I have been "importing" this from Czech Republic and France over the years, tried the louche, tried the sugar cube. Usually just results in me drinking away, trying to get over the taste.
I don't mind hard liquor, even 140 proof, so it is not the burn that bothers me, it is the overwhelming taste of anise/black licorice; it is just foul.
I have tried mixing it over the years with about every mixer, juice, other liquors that I can think of, and the taste overwhelms all.
Any ideas or experiences with the green fairy that you can share to make my buzz more flavorably tolerant?

Did you try and put it in a blender with some ice, orange juice, and psilocybin?

Liquorice is the win, the only other taste of comparable greatness is cocoa.

What is the drink like? Does anybody have an experience? Apparently you can buy it for personal consumption in the United States, but you can't sell it in bars.

everything you wanted to know about absinthe:

I've chased the Green Fairy a few times........its been a while though.
What you really want is pre-ban absinthe; but that'll probably run you $1000+ for a bottle.

It's true. I had some fake stuff a year or two ago. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on something more interesting...

There are additional affects from the thujone; a mellow, pot-like buzz as I describe it; but you have to remember, absinthe is also 150-190 proof so the alcohol is going to put a hurt on you too.
If you want to go and "enlighten" yourself like Vincent van Gogh or Edgar Allan Poe, then I would suggest rolling a fat one. You'll destroy your body with the alcohol before any "trip" began.....
Never tried it. One word of caution though. Any Absinthe that is promoting the amount of thujone in its product is suspect.
Try some from this website:
http://www.spiritscorner.com/ing/index.html
Several years ago I dropped $65 on a 50ml bottle of 1910 Pernod (from this website:
http://www.oxygenee.com/). Quite tasty (if you like anise) and strong. Beautiful louching.
Did I go all Hunter Thompson & see lizards dancing in my bar? Nope.
There's more of a culture surrounding absinthe than much else. If you're looking to get f*cked up, stick with the ganja & Barcardi 151.

If your not an enormous aniseed fan then you may want to try a mint flavoured absinthe from the Czech Republic. I cant remember it's name unfortunately (funny that

), but you take it in the usual way, - with sugar.

The shit you can buy in America has no wormwood extract in it... It is not real absinthe...
It is just licorice flavored Bacardi 151...

The site Iz posted would appear to let you buy primo European absinthe online. Agreed on the US absinthe, though.

My friend always buys a case at a time from Czech, sometimes France. Depends where the best deal is at the time...
But, even buying that shit, it isn't NEAR the quality that people like F Scott Fitzgerald drank... You can buy wormwood extract by itself, now... So, you could take it with anything.

As an update, evidently Absinthe is now legal to make in the US with a number of Los Angeles and New Orleans bars now serving again. The Absinthe is limited on thujone content to 10 mg but still reportedly packs a kick.
The trend in L.A. is to make into a margarita like drink with sugar instead of salt. My wife tried it on a recent trip to L.A. and reported it wasn't bad, but the american absinthe is not very "licorcery" to begin with.
For the good of the group, I will try it this weekend with my french/czech brands and advise.
