However, I am most disappointed that Mugabe has no distingishable moustache. He's breaking the trend!

I am equally puzzled why it is acceptable to bomb a whole country into a stone age, while not acceptable to kill one sick bustard.

Yes it is really to sad to see the MDC back down at the last minute (I can sort of understand why they did this though). I was really hoping to see Mugabe go down, even after all the stuff he has done. We will never know what would have happened. What is so sad, is that the people who really lose in this, are all the people of Zimbabwe. If there was ever a case for the U.N. and/or the rest of world to finally say enough is enough. I would think that Zimbabwe, and Darfur would be the logical places to start.

Its absolutely bloody horrendous. One of the great problems faced there, though, is that while the latest polls show that he doesn't have majority support (which believe it or not he did until relatively recently) he still has a large and very militant support base. Its just not as simple as slaying just Mugabe as that would likely throw the country into a long and violent civil war.

Being in South Africa the issue is constantly debated and in the news and currently there are still hordes of refugees flowing across the border (the current estimates being quite a few milion Zimbabweans living here mostly illegally). Mugabe's latest statements (classic ones such as "an X on a ballot paper isn't more powerful than a gun") lead me to think this problem is gonna get alot worse before Zimbabweans see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Its horrible, it so bad that people are passing their new borns through barbed wire jsut to get out of the country. Its sad to think if the west was truly liberal the people (we) wouldnt stand for this.

it's quite simple why the west has done nothing. there is not much OIL there.

Very unlikely. Do you know old commie view of democracy: "it does not matter who you vote for, it matters who counts the vote..." It is obvious that MDC leader has won the original election and no run off should be necessary

Ofcourse it's obvious they have won, they just can't actually get into government. After losingthe first election, Mugabe told some "independent" tribunal to declare reelections should be held. Then he tried to intimidate people into voting for him or not voting at all.
