Philadelphia, PA:
In Philadelphia, FOX News' Rick Leventhal went to a polling station downtown where it was reported two Black Panthers had stationed themselves at the door to a polling station and were intimidating voters. One held a nightstick.
The man carrying the nightstick was reportedly escorted away from the polling station by police before FOX News arrived around noon. Outside, FOX News found another Black Panther who said he was a certified observer. Police asked him and the FOX News crew to leave the polling station.

Maybe not all the hype needed but if 2 triple K members would have done the same thing, it would have been all over the news. Am I right or wrong?

It's a true story. Here's some video from the scene, shot by a Penn student on a camera phone:

And here's a little something about the primary character of that interesting video:

I don't know why everyone was so scared of a guy with a stick? He wasn't stopping anyone from voting, was he? He just had a stick, that's all.
Oh, I liked this quote that he said:
"wherever black people is, that's where I live."
Poetry, pure poetry...

maybe.
The real Black Panthers are in no way to be compared to the KKK, despite attempts to paint them in that light way back when. However, I highly doubt these folks are any association with BP. Way too young, for one thing.

At it's most base, you can't deny that the Panthers have/had a legit gripe.

Yeah, they need sticks to beat away all the white people that were going to vote a couple times, just like this guy:

Except that was not what the Black Panthers actually did back when they were active.
My guess is a couple of young idiots thought to have themselves some "fun".
It is, however a much milder version of what the KKK actually did & still tries to do, many times over.

I didn't see any KKK guys with baseball bats this year at the voting booths...matter of fact, I can't ever recall seeing them outside the polling stations with burning crosses and such since I have been of voting age. Perhaps it was done in the past, but that doesn't make it right for some Black Panther punks to do it.

You're totally misinterpreting, man. He definitely meant he came back a couple of times because the line was so long, he was checking to see if it was shorter. You saw his confusion after the reporter said that he thought that was illegal, that's what gives it away. Just a failure in communication, not voter fraud. Plus, I think that dude was blazed.
Anyway, hilarious clip.

No, they just lynched them if they tried to register ... or ensured they had ballots with tissue paper, etc. The KKK works in secret ... ergo the masks/capes.
matter of fact, I can't ever recall seeing them outside the polling stations with burning crosses and such since I have been of voting age.
They are most definitely still active, but again, the KKK works in secret, not in the open.
Perhaps it was done in the past, but that doesn't make it right for some Black Panther punks to do it.
Except, as I said, I highly, highly doubt they WERE Black Panthers.
AND, you need to study history. Yes, there was a picture of Hewey Newton waving a gun on the Sacramento state capitol steps, etc. BUT, do you know the story behind that? The black panthers were, even in their most radical days, about getting blacks things ... not about taking things from whites.
The KKK has ALWAYS been about denying folks of color (and Roman Catholics, AND Jews ... "Kykes, Kinks and Katholics")..even basic human dignity.
So, to sum, A. I don't believe they really had anything to do with the real Black Panther Panthers .. its just not the BP style. B. Even if it were, standing in front of a polling booth, wrong as it was, does not in any way compare to the truly heneous acts of the KKK. (and neither do the REAL actions of the true Black Panthers!)

Radical violence under any premise is wrong. Problem with hate is it links arms with fundamentalism. Problem with that is there is no room for things like flexible thinking or common sense or adjusting ones beliefs to the current time and place.
This dude hates the whites, and will support any view, slanted or not to promote his own hate and thus justify his existance. Individuals like that who hate for hates sake contribute nothing to their cause and nothing to society.
Pitching him and those like him into a flaming volcano would be a decent start.
And when I say those like him, I mean anyone reguardless of color or religion or race or belief who feel that harming others is a basic right to push forth thier personal views and agendas.
Johnny Rockets.

Plenty of recruits, they just need to grow up in a few more years...and then they will be ripe for the picking!

I agree, but my point is that the Black Panthers, even at their worst, were no where near as bad as most people like to think. AND, the worst events were actually perpetuated internally, and many suggest BY the very infiltrators that were supposed to be preventing the violance.
Its all a complicated mess at this point, a mire like many others where truth becomes shadowy and hard to pick out.
BUT, again, even at their worst, to compare the KKK to the Black Panthers is to show ignorance of both.

EPIC Bump since I can't find the other threads where we discussed the administration dropping the New Black Panther intimidation case.
It appears that the New Black Panthers decided to return to their controversial polling place to "greet voters". At least this time they aren't greeting them holding weapons (yet).

I wonder is this is all hype?
Question: Does the media have rights to be at the polling station? If I was a reporter and within my rights to be there, I would make sure that the cops knew that.

My question remains; what rights do the media have to be at a polling station? I don't think its fair for the police to tell the media to leave unless they have a damn good reason. I don't want to live in a police state.

Eric Holder: Black Panther case focus demeans 'my people'
Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.
Holder's frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.
The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.
"Think about that," Holder said. "When you compare what people endured in the South in the 60s to try to get the right to vote for African Americans, to compare what people subjected to that with what happened in Philadelphia, which was inappropriate....to describe it in those terms I think does a great disservice to people who put their lives on the line for my people," said Holder, who is black.
Holder noted that his late sister-in-law, Vivian Malone Jones, helped integrate the University of Alabama.
"To compare that kind of courage, that kind of action, to say some Black Panther incident is of greater concern to us, historically, I think just flies in the face of history," Holder said with evident exasperation.
In a series of questions and comments earlier in the hearing, Culberson insisted that race had infected the decision-making process. "There’s clearly overwhelming evidence that your Department of Justice refuses to protect the rights of anybody other than African-Americans to vote," the Texas Republican said. "There's a double standard here."
"This Department of Justice does not enforce the law on the basis of race," Holder insisted.
Rep. Chaka Fattah, a Democrat from Philadelphia, said the Black Panthers "should not have been there." But he said the GOP was making too much out of a fleeting incident involving a couple of people.
"The most unethical thing a person can do is make allegations based on absolutely nothing," Fattah said. "The only issue of race is singling out this particular decision...That this rises to national significance is bogus on its face."

His people?! And this guy is supposed to uphold our laws?
