whats with all the locked threads?

Just noticed that more and more threads are getting locked, and in my opinion not for anything serious. and is one person in particular locking threads unnecesarily?

When a mod locks a thread, they're supposed to post in the thread saying why (exceptions include Tournament Abandoneds/Archives and Closed Reports). If you disagree with why a particular thread was locked, you can always PM the mod who posted in it. If no one posted, perhaps ask a Global Mod or an Admin.

With the deleting of flame wars, there have been more threads flaming in general discussion, which are subsequently locked.

wow, i just wrote a post exactly like this one nagerous. you must have beat me to it, and it probably asked me to review your thread before i posted mine. haha.

but you hit the nail on the head. there is nowhere for people to vent at all. with cutesy club being the theme here, flaming is going on by people who didnt even post in flame wars. but they are flaming the flamers to bait them.

why not bring back flame wars with a few guidelines, and devote one mod to patrol it. and also make it 18 and over.

Well, you see, this all began in medieval times. I believe this idea or rigorous protection derived from the ancient chastity belt which was designed to prevent sexual intercourse on the behalf of the fair temptress sporting it. At least that's how I've come to understand it...

this is a game where you have people who play terribly. youre argument is like you are a hippie in the sixties preaching "love not war". if you could have it your way, there would be no crime in america, everyone liking each other, and that is boring.

i am ok with it being gone. i now just post at pileofawesome.com. i have no worries. it is just kind of odd. thats all. and with what i post in pileofawesome, i would get banned quickly here. so i am happy it is gone. poa is getting people from cc all the time.

it is a matter of time before someone in poa makes a risk site like this one, then cc will lose alot of money. that is all i am saying.

there are repercussions for everything.

I used to be a community manager on a site that had 60,000 users. Sometimes you have to lock threads to stop arguements, other times you have to lock them if the post doesn't comply with the ToS. It is just a necessary evil of the web 2.0 world we live in.

If it's such an "awesome" site, why do you guys need to constantly promote it?

Could you also provide some stats on how many people from CC are actually joining? Seems like a Pleasant Chaps retreat if you ask me...

Your statement that it is getting people all the time is pretty general, needs some facts to backup such a bold statement.

own up nightstrike, its you doing the evil locking. However, no one will know if you lock this one, then it will fall to the bottom and quickly disappear. [evil laugh]

Nightstick isn't afraid of saying when he's locking threads. Don't blame him.

Yes, there ARE repercussions for everything and what you say IS a possibility. However, I personally believe it's a very remote possibility. I really do believe that "the number of people who would leave for the ability to flame at a whim" is significantly less than "the number of people who would stay because of the absence of the habitual flaming". Granted, that's only my opinion.

to answer you salr13.

everyday i go over to that website, i see new faces everyday. i am guessing 2 a day. and that may be a lowball session. and as far as promoting it. i am not. i merely stated what is happening.

chaosfactor and wicked are promoting it. if a reporter were to report about a car dealership laundering money, are they promoting that car dealer? no they are not. but bad press is good press i hear.

make more logical statements salr, and i will respond with more in depth answers

I think it's rather humorous that anyone thinks anyone at PoA has the time/skill/money/energy to create a game engine as good as CC.

Why would Hasbro do a stupid thing like that?

Think about it. They have people like ronc trying to get support for the site. Do you really think that lends credibility to anything? Anything goes forum? Sure. Legitimate gaming site? Ha.

That is a flawed assumption if you think getting rid of Flame Wars would get rid of flaming. Unpleasant individuals such as Mod Edit, Mod Edit and Mod Edit didn't ever post in Flame Wars, not even once. Yet they continue to habitually flame in the game chat and occasionally in the other forums, all with the express intent of causing offence and emotional hurt. The handful of truly bad apples such as the three I've just mentioned was not a valid justification for removing Flame Wars. At least with Flame Wars around there was a place to flame or move threads to when they got out of hand. It was also a place where the creative posters could post humorous parody diatribes on almost anything that wasn't expressly forbidden in the Community Guidelines. So, in case you've missed the point(again) I'm going to spell it out for you.

Getting rid of Flame Wars does not get rid of flaming, full stop.

I certainly agree that FlameWars was not just the residence of the bad apples, and I certainly agree that there are bad apples who have never entered into Flame Wars. But the atmosphere of flaming WILL improve, I do believe that. It will take some time, as the moderators begin to understand their roles better and some of our residents begin to take the repercussions of their flaming more seriously (due to being forced to, essentially).

Where are the mods when you need them? Salr13? That's a no no ronc but apparently the mods are selectively choosing who to ban. [-X

Hopefully you will be getting the slap on the hand so that I don't have to flame you back.

2 a day  Wow that is an enormous number. So what, are you guys up to 10 now?

And regarding your terrible example, if a car dealership got reported laundering money, it would most likely cause the business to be shut down. How is that good press in anyway? "Did you hear about that dealership that got caught laundering money?? Come on! We gotta go buy a car from them!!" hahahaha. silly, just silly Ronc.

Not to be argumentative, but why would they ban ron for calling you salr13 instead of salr15? I realize he got your name wrong, but his error doesn't appear to be an insult (though sometimes I don't see these things, like with personalized license plates).

No that's an old Pleasant Chaps flame where they cleverly would change it to say that I was 13. Lame, I know but a flame is a flame.

What's with all the locked threads?

I'll tell you...

They just enjoy using their power. Power makes you crazzzzyyyyyyy \:D/
