We all have seen people that face adversity, survive, and are "still standing" when the dust settles. Give us your example, please.

Obama was elected President
but.....
Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah

This sounds suspiciously like you're soliciting stories from our own lives to illustrate your point. Since I know in the past you've managed to be a complete shithead (without any reason for it) using people's personal lives against them, why the hell would anyone in their right minds share with you?
Don't get me wrong mpjh, you're all right in some ways, say, when you're arguing about something that doesn't cut someone down, but you're colossally two-faced when it comes to keeping confidences or respecting boundaries. You simply can't be trusted to not completely cross the line with little or no provocation.
So why don't you tell your inspiring story first? Then you can cut all the rest of us down with how insufficient and inferior to you we are.
Also, other mods, this isn't a flame. It's just plain truth. It's only fair to warn other users that anything you reveal about yourself to mpjh he WILL use against you at some point. Especially if you're just playfully kidding with him, he'll just bust out his sledgehammer and smash that thumb tack into the ground and then act all self-righteous about it, as if he was doing you a favor.

And I'm just as shocked that he's a MOD. Pickins must be gettin real thin.

Sounds more like a down and out story, pimp. Anyone got a still standing story about someone not a member of CC?

Nah, that's just you projecting again. It's what you usually do, when you're trying to cut others down, you just harangue them in an effort to avoid your own self-loathing; targeting aspects of yourself you know aren't perfect. That way you can always tell yourself, "well, no matter how far I fall from grace, at least ______ will have always fallen further. I am superior."
Don't take the bait anyone, mpjh is probably very good at mentoring people in how to play RISK, but shouldn't be trusted beyond that. He will take any opportunity possible to cut you down, especially if it's not even his fight, or any of his business, and he's just meddling because he likes to make himself feel better by beating others up. Classic bully behavior.
Also, let's set the record straight. Your OP reads:
mpjh wrote:We all have seen people that face adversity, survive, and are "still standing" when the dust settles. Give us your example, please.
So, come on now...
Also, just to add to this, I'm not trying to start shit with you mpjh, I just think it's fair to warn others that your past, seemingly endemic personality/behavior point towards it being incredibly foolish to share anything with you without expecting it to be twisted and somehow used against the person sharing.
Further, that when it comes to friendly banter, you're incapable of keeping it lighthearted, and go for the jugular immediately.

I like owenshooter, and will be glad to see him back. That is a good example of still standing, if it happens. Anyone got a more lighthearted example of someone not a member of cc?

I think it's against the rules to give personal info. Soz.

Got any virtual stories of still standing heroics?

That would be giving personal info on who is a hero. Can't do that, soz

Sorry you cannot do it, skittles. Anyone else got the imagination to tell an interesting story without using personal information of a cc member?

How about your inspiring story, mpjh? I'm sure that many of us, myself included, would be very interested in a 'still standing' narrative.

I was stationed in Biloxi, MS during Hurricane Katrina. The eye of the hurricane hit just to the west of us (making it a very bad thing for us). Lived for six days in one building with no air conditioning or running water with 2000 of my closest friends. I was the First Sergeant, in fact. Most of us lost most of our households, but fortunately there were no deaths or serious injuries. I'm still around and fighting, though it did convince me to retire to get the hell out of there.

My sister rode it out in a bar in the Quarter. Too bad you cannot resign from alcohol.
