OverviewRace across the planet taking in the Arctic and the Antarctic along the wayPlayers will be split across 21 different maps (4 on each). At the start of the game, each player will have two travellers on his base map, one which will be heading south and the other north. There will be 2 standard games each round, one for each direction. The winner from each map proceeds to the next map for the next round whereas the rest will stay to try again.
For example, in Round 1 players A, B, C & D play on the Scotland map; Players E, F, G & H play on the Nordic Kingdoms map. Players B and H win. In Round 2, players A, C, D & the winner of the Luxembourg map battle it out in Scotland; players B, E, F & G play the Nordic Kingdoms map; player H moves on to the Soviet Union.
NB The winner of the Antarctic map will jump to the Arctic if his traveller is heading south. The winner of the Arctic map will jump to Antarctica if his traveller is heading north.
Due to the number of games required for this tournament, freemiums must be sure they can commit.
MapsThere is no advantage to starting in any particular location.
SettingsAll games are standard, automatic, sequential and have a 20-round limit. Otherwise, settings will vary from map to map as shown in the illustration.
WinningThe winner is the player to cross all 15 maps the fastest, ie. you need to get from your start to your finish faster than anyone else (ie. plays all the maps the shortest total number of times). In case of a draw, a tiebreaker will be played on the Classic map.
Non-Joiners & DeadbeatsIf you are going to be away and possibly miss joining a game then please let me know in advance. You will stay on your current map and I will run it as a 3 person game. The following tournament round will see your place restored and that map as a 4 person map again.
If a player fails to join within 48 hours of invites being sent out without having notified me of planned absence, then I shall offer his place in the tournament to a reserve. If there are no reserves available, then that map will drop one player in the game (so a 4 person map would become a 3 person one)
