Omaha Beach
Omaha Beach was one of the five sectors of Normandy on which the Allies landed on D-Day (June 6th, 1944.) This tournament was originally scheduled to be launched on June 6th, 2016, on the anniversary of D-Day, in commemoration of that event. Due to pressures in real life plus my many duties online, I didn't get to it in time, for which I apologise. Let's hope you all have some fun here and it's a case of "better late than never."
All games in this tournament will be Standard, Sequential, Automatic, 24-hour, 50-turn limit games on the D-Day Omaha Beach Map. Other settings will vary.
25 Players are required. Due to the large number of games, all must be premium.

In Phase 1 of the tournament, you will play 11 games commemorating 11 elements of the landings:
The Allies controlled the sea and the air, but they were hampered by inaccurate intelligence: No Spoils Foggy Unlimited
In the choppy seas, many landing craft drifted off course and were lost: Nuclear Foggy Chained
Mines and obstacles caused even more losses: Nuclear Sunny Adjacent
The tanks would have given the Americans control of the beach but more than 90% never reached it: Escalating Foggy Chained
The infantry suffered high casualties on landing: Flat rate Foggy Adjacent
Pinned on the beach, the troops were hammered by artillery fire: Flat rate Sunny No reinforcements
The dead piled up: Zombie Sunny Chained
Engineers landed to start demolishing some of the defenses: Flat rate Foggy Adjacent Trench
Rangers and some rifle companies finally scaled the heights and began capturing German artillery positions: Escalating Foggy Unlimited Trench
At the end of the day, only a small part of the target area had been captured, and Allied Commanders considered evacuating Omaha: Flat rate Foggy Parachute Trench
Nonetheless, by the next day the Allies were being reinforced and the Germans were in retreat: Escalating Sunny Unlimited
Although these games commemorate different elements of the battle, they will all be issued simultaneously in order to conclude this tournament in an expeditious fashion. D-Day itself was, after all, one day.
In Phase 1, all will be 5-player games. In order to advance, you must win at least 2 of the 11 games.
If 10 or fewer players qualify, then we will proceed directly from Phase 1 to the Finals. If more than 10 players qualify, then a Phase 2 will be inserted between Phase 1 and the Finals. The Finals (and Phase 2 if there is one) will feature the same 11 games on the settings above. The number of players per game in Phase 2 and in the Finals will depend on the number of players qualifying.
