Escalating - Poly/Terminator (Winner-Zabeast)

Postby Silly Knig-it on Fri Feb 21, 2020 12:25 am

I am taking over this tournament. So please direct all questions to me. If you feel I am not following something that was set up in the original thread please let me know soonest. Otherwise I will be the final decision on all disputes.

I can see from the scoreboard that at least one round of games was played. When I have tournament privs I will track down and score all the games that have been issued. I will be using a new scoreboard and will transfer the data. (Please double check me.)

Looking for 24 Players (will go higher if enough interest).

There will be multiple "Stages" with multiple "Rounds" within each "Stage"
Every Round within a "Stage" each player will play One: Poly-2, 3, & 4 game against a random opponent for each game.
A New Round starts every week... 3 games sent per week.

For each Color you knock out of your opponents you will earn points and for each color of yours that your opponent knocks out you will lose points.

show: Point System

A Player is eliminated from the Tournament if they have 0 or less points after a Round.

We will enter a new "Stage" each time we have lost 4+ players from a Stage.

show: Stage 1

show: Stage 2

show: Stage 3

show: Stage 4

show: Stage 5

show: FINAL Stage

IF/When a Round has an odd amount of Players the Player with the most current points in that Stage will get a 1-Round Bye. If there is a Tie for the most points the Player that receives the Bye will be determined by a coin flip. If nobody accumulates more points then the Player who has the Bye after the Round is complete and there is still an odd amount of Players they will not get a second Bye... the Player with the next highest total will get the Bye.

As of now the scoreboard is live and has been updated with the last round that was mistakenly labeled. It was labled as Stage 2, Round 2. It was actually Stage 1, Round 2.

We don't move to a new stage until at least 4 players have been eliminated by going below zero in point count. Look for new games soon. Maybe tonight, certainly by the end of the weekend.

For Stage 1, Round 3

show: Poly 2 matchups

show: Poly 3 matchups

show: Poly 4 matchups

Stage 1, Round 3 games have been issued. A couple have problems, due to freemium or non play problems. If you are missing a game, give me until Monday to see if it shows up. We may be dropping two people and I will combine.

So we have two people dropped out. I have moved names around and everyone should have their games now. One each poly -2, -3, -4, random maps. Since two have dropped I will move us on to Stage 2 as soon as 2 people have reached zero points. That is the total of four that was the break point as of before. That's at least 2, if more qualify to be dropped they will be.

Hopefully it is smooth sailing from here forward.

All Stage 1, Round 4 games have been issued. I will delay next week if it looks like we will be able to move to Stage 2. Otherwise the next set of games will be out in another week.

Having now had a chance to observe how quickly we are going through the games and the stages, I intend to make the following change:

All stages will end when 4 people fall below zero or when 6 rounds have been issued at each stage. At which point the bottom 4 in point totals will be eliminated and the next stage will start.

The reason for the change is the following. My best estimate of how long we need to play to get 4 people below zero is about 3-4 months for each stage. That works out to a tournament that will last 2-3 years. (Finishing in 2022 or 2023.) The guidelines are that tournaments should try to finish in about a year or less (give or take). 6 games per stage means we should finish each stage in about 2 months, which brings us back to that one year +/- time frame.

If there is something that I am not paying attention and a reason I should not implement this change please let me know. So far we are on Round 4 of Stage 1. Round 5 goes out this weekend.

No round 6 being issued as I expect we will probably go to Stage 2, once the Round 5 games finish.

Update Thursday 19 March:
We are waiting on a game from the fourth round to finish. I cannot proceed until it does.

Update Sunday 22 March:
Looks like we will need a round 6 after all.

show: Poly 3

show: Poly 4

All Stage 1, Round 6 issued. Last set on this stage.

We are in Round 6 and I have to wait for 3 games to finish before I can see how many are playing stage 2. And of course they seem to be moving slowly but I have them watched so I can easily find them. Stage 2 games coming out just as soon as I can comfortably predict how those 3 will finish.

Stage 3 is not complete, but it is complete enough for me to eliminate 2, bringing us to Stage 4 (12 players left) and going on with the tournament.
So I will be issuing Stage 4 games. The starting number is lower and there are fewer of you, so it may be much easier to dip below zero and be eliminated in the middle of the Stage. (Of course, as I have been doing if subsequent games that could pull you back above zero have been issued, I will wait to see results.) We will continue with a maximum of 6 rounds per stage.
