Re: Conquer Club Slowness/Timeouts

Yep. This needs to be fixed, pronto. If it's not fixed by the time my membership is up for renewal, I won't renew.

Re: Ron Paul: Now or Never

Voted for him in the '08 primaries.... sent money in to his campaign.... realized after the election he nor anyone like him will ever win the presidency..... EVER.
Don't be so sure. I think people are starting to wake up. Liberty Defined could be a game changer.

Also we're going to start ...

Re: Ron Paul: Now or Never

I'm a huge Ron Paul fan. I believe that he is the only likely candidate who:
1. Knows why America is so screwed up
2. Knows how to fix it
3. Actually WANTS to fix it
and 4. Is not too corrupt to fix it

He has a decades-long track record of unswervingly doing the right thing. You won't find many ...

Re: Mccain picks a veep you have never heard of! Poll added

All right ... a VP candidate who is smart, has successfully fought her own party, has successfully taken on government corruption, knows a lot about oil and energy. She hunts moose, plays hockey, and rides a motorbike. And she's cute too. Could it possibly be better than this?

I was on the fence ...

Different advancement and fortification rules (TEG)

This is based on the gameplay of TEG, an Argentinian clone of Risk. An open source version is available at m (it's a Linux program, not sure if there's a Windows version or not)

Concise description:

⋅ After a successful attack, the conquering player can advance AT MOST three armies to ...

Re: [15-Jun-2008] Downtime today

Hi guys,

I was at work (Rackspace support) this morning when this all happened. The data center had lost utility power, and a couple chillers did not come back on, causing the temperatures to rise. That affected some servers, and I'm sorry the database server was one of them. I actually noticed ...

Methinks you and Unrig don't quite see the point.

Of course the God of the Bible, assuming He exists, would be an explanation for this stuff! At least the original creation of the universe if nothing else.
That's not an explanation. Explanations cover the how, not the who.
Ok. Well the Bible ...

got tonkaed: Sure I think one should look at the things you mentioned. But just a "common understanding of the times?" Well for one, the timespan between Job, the Psalm, and Zechariah was probably over 500 years. Maybe closer to 1000.

All right, I've tried to show what cosmology says about God. Now let's see what the Bible says about cosmology!

(Then we can get on to other interesting topics.)

First, the Bible repeatedly says that God created everything from nothing, or at least no ordinary thing:

In the beginning God ...

But that's the problem. God doesn't explain anything. Because it basically says "God did it" all the time. In the end it's the same explanation scientifically. Because any reasonable person would ask: "But how did God do it?"
Methinks you and Unrig don't quite see the point.

Of course the God of ...

when you say "ten to the 50th" and "ten to the 120th", do you mean 10^50 and 10^120 ?
Yes.
I do believe so.... I remember reading in a science text that the odds of the universe forming the way it did randomly is something to the tune of 10^120 or some such........this same text claims only 10^50 ...

Really, you're arguing from an impossible view. You're saying that because everything fits together so perfectly it has to be god. But if it didn't fit together perfectly we wouldn't be sitting here typing, because we wouldn't exist. Who is to say that our universe isn't the millionth try?

It's ...

Ok ... What the universe says about the qualities of God

In the early 1900s, the dominant view of cosmology was that the universe always existed in a state similar to that in which it is today. That suited naturalists just fine -- it gave a virtually infinite amount of time for the origins of ...

All right. To lay the foundation, I assert that faith must be testable. And lack of faith should be testable. Whatever your worldview is, it should be supported by reality.

The Bible says to "test all things, hold fast to that which is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

I hope all of you are ...

That's not my point. I know for a fact that not everyone will agree even if you proved it to be true. There are still people who walk around claiming that the earth is flat and that we're being watched by aliens all the time.
Since you'll never be able to prove it's true, it's silly to say that's ...

Why not? Shouldn't the ultimate truth of reality be the guiding principle behind everything?

Why?

Ok, after several pages of futile debate about the role of religion in public life, I think we need to get to the heart of the issue.

The sun stopping in the sky does not equal a geocentric universe, it just means a stop in the earth's rotation for a few hours.

Although that is possible, my favorite explanation for that passage is a bit different.

I think God "forked" time. The participants of the said battle (Joshua 10 ...

*Unless*, when the primaries get to Texas, Huckabee obviously has a chance and Paul does not. In that case I'd vote for Huckabee, as he's my second choice.

Canaima National Park, Venezuela. Home of Angel Falls, the world's tallest waterfall. But the whole area is so beautiful that the falls is one of the least reasons to go there!

The question is, can you play the game with "fanatical" strategy?

Hope so. I don't claim to be the best, but I should be able to inflict some headaches on opponents. :D
