Well, I haven't had much time to work on it recently. So sorry about that. Another semester just started up here at school and I have been busy with that. But i have tried a little to see what I could do a with those peices Bad Speler showed me and I'm unsure if they will work. If i use them it looks like they would be too skinny (at least the taller peices), but maybe I can just take the top part of those peices and not the whole piece so it is not so skinny and the peices would fit in the squares a little better.nascarfan38124 wrote:hey its been awile can we get an update i really want to see this map come though
looks like a crossword map kinda thingcramill wrote:Click below for a more current map

This is what I have now, I guess I won't do any more until I have some suggestions or comments. This is the large version. (But it may be a little too large.)
So basically, this will look like a chess board, like a game is in progress, but you are playing risk on it. The pecies provide bariers and prevent the game from being just a grid. The letters are there just for now to represent peices (K = King, N= kNight, B = Bishop, and so on)(I will add actual peices later).
Right now there are only 38 'countries'. But i think it would be better if there were 42 (the classic map has 42 countries). So I would need to remove 4 of the chess peices and maybe re-arrange stuff to make it work better or whatever. (the reinforcements for 'continents' could probably be adjusted also).
I will take any suggestions for improvements, and tell me if you like the idea and how it looks for now.
For once I agree with hendy. I dont like it.hendy wrote:looks like a crossword map kinda thingcramill wrote:Click below for a more current map

you know you didnt have to join a shitty clan retardcramill wrote:I don't know why you were quoting my first post, but thats not what it looks like now, i have made some additions, but i havent had much time to make it look any better for now:
And reverend_kyle: you didn't need to quote the whole post of hendy - it looks kinda stupid and it takes up a lot of space. (Spammer!)
What does that have to do with anything? And this isnt the flame section so shut up. I dont really care about clans much anyways. and didn't you want to join the freelancers? (please dont respond to this here - this is the map section.)reverend_kyle wrote:you know you didnt have to join a ***** clan retard (who's the retard?)
Did you even read through the post? The pecies are there for boundries (you cant attack through them- think of the ocean on the classic map or mountains on other maps) So it is not just a grid, there is some shape to it. And I am in no way saying this is the final product. It will look a lot better when it is finalized. I know that the key and the title need work. Don't you read?reverend_kyle wrote:As for your pmap it has no playability because as I see it it is just a grid decorated like a chess board.. that doesnt sound fun at all.. Do the pieces even have any significance? If not then they should be removed.. If they do you shouled at least explain it.. The key and title look bland and need spiced up.. i could continue if you want..
Ah yes, so maybe green can be 3 then. Before when I didn't have that white knight there (E6), it was a red square and that was bordering the green also, so now green only has 2 borders so 3 sounds reasonable for green now. I will probably change that then.sully800 wrote:But the point is purple and green shouldn't be the same.

I already responded to you about the peices earlier in the thread and i thought that you were following the thread a little.reverend_kyle wrote:Ok, first off, do you honestly think that everyone who will play your map will have time to read the whole ... thread on the ... thing just to understand it? NO put it somewhere on the map...
Well, I think it will be pretty obious that the peices will be boundries when the armies are placed on the squares since attacks can only be made to adjacent squares in all directions. But, if it really isnt that obious then I will make a note of it on the map.cramill wrote:This map is not only the chess board itself (without peices), but the peices on this map are not territories, they are boundaries, so not every territory can be attacked from every direction.reverend_kyle wrote:ok, what makes it different..
How will they know what? I dont understand what you are trying to say. If you are trying to point out that there are alot of people who don't post in the forums, what does that have to do with this? Also look at the number of people who are registered for the forum: "We have 18487 registered users." But there aren't that many people who are considered active players. Checking the scoreboard there are currently 3256 active players so of course there will be a lot of registered people who don't post in the forum (n00bs who don't ever play, or people who just don't use the forum much).reverend_kyle wrote:Ok now go to the member list and put ascending post count...
Look at all of those people with 0's..
How will they know that?
If i need to I could change the note on the map to: 'Attacks can be made to adjacent squares in all directions (up, down, left, right, and diagonally)'cramill wrote:I think it will be pretty obious that the peices will be boundries when the armies are placed on the squares since attacks can only be made to adjacent squares in all directions. I don't think that would work, and it sounds confusing (you didn't explain your idea very well at all either). I like it the way I have it and I don't think it will change.reverend_kyle wrote:I think you should arange the pieces so that one of them could move to every territory on the map and make it so each piece can attack where they'd be able to move in real chess....so like holding queens contiennts and rooks continents would be much more valueable.
also that way it wouldent really be a chess board map but more like a chess set map and to be good one must know how to play chess well the do well on that mapcramill wrote:I don't think that would work, and it sounds confusing (you didn't explain your idea very well at all either). It would make for a different risk experience.. but I noticed a flaw that wouldnt quite work for my idea.nascarfan38124 wrote:also that way it wouldent really be a chess board map but more like a chess set map and to be good one must know how to play chess well the do well on that mapcramill wrote:I don't think that would work, and it sounds confusing (you didn't explain your idea very well at all either).
