I was actually cheering for this game to be good, with Harmonix going independent and all, and I wished we could have bought that for my friends instead. The price is much too high unfortunately. My brother played it and likes guitar hero better though.riggable wrote:rock bands better.
Without a thought to what you meant with that, I agree. The learning curve is pretty high, having to use both hands rhythmically, especially since I used to play DDR. Oh and then there's Guitar Queero, which spells it out pretty nicely for those who play too much.btownmeggy wrote:I have to say... ehhh.
guitar hero is HARDER, thats basically the main reason why people like it better. My friend, after 1 day of practicing, could beat a song on expert in rock band (granted, it was the easiest song, should i stay or should i go, and it was for the bass guitar, but still)static_ice wrote:My family got my friends' family gt3 for christmas. Pretty addictive and makes you appreciate music more, even for songs you didn't like before.

umm.. thats bull. guitar hero takes real skills, while rock band is for 8 year olds. there is "team effort" in gh3 when doing 2 player. rock band sucksriggable wrote:guitar hero is HARDER, thats basically the main reason why people like it better. however, rockband does the team effort and team building and whatnot, in a way guitar just can't. and i love that. you could be a guitar queero, or you and a bunch of friends could work together to create a musical juggernaut of a band(how can anyone not like this?)
If they make a rock band 2, with all the kinks worked out, I think it could possibly be the best game ever made.

Nah...the entire point of video games is being able to do something that you can't in real life, and most people can't play more than Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the guitar. Hell, I can't even do that.bedub1 wrote:Guitar Hero is stupid.
Now, it COULD be cool if you could plug a REAL guitar into the console and play the REAL tabs......then it would be fun AND educational!
I agree its much cooler to play with 4 friends than 2 or yourself, but the biggest problem I'd find with my foursome group of friends is that all of us suck horrendously at singing. We're not big fans of karaoke either. Also, the bass instrument sounds like it'd be just like the guitar, but less fun. With my friends I'd imagine we'd have to switch everyone around every few songs to keep things fair. How do you deal with this?riggable wrote:guitar hero is HARDER, thats basically the main reason why people like it better. How many friends do you have? 4 player co-op is better than 2.the_fatty wrote:

First of all, gh, if nothing else, teaches players rhythm. Those long lines of the same notes for half a minute aren't there for nothing.Frigidus wrote:Nah...the entire point of video games is being able to do something that you can't in real life, and most people can't play more than Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the guitar. Actually though, I've heard they are making something kind of like that. It's still being worked on, but you would be able to play various instruments with people online. It would be kind of like Rock Band but with people you don't really know.
