Freestyle/free for all?

Post by bsdad »

I recently played a free style game. Other players were able to take a turn before I had completed my turn, I thought I understood the concept of freestyle, that there is no set order. I did not realize that some flaw or bug can be exploited. How is a player to execute a strategy if suddenly another player can add armies mid attack and actually attack you?
Any thoughts?

That is how it is supposed to be. If you don't like it play sequencial.

Just curious, it doesn't state that in the instructions. And it seems to be something rather random.

Almost as if the order in which players would move is unrestricted and thus freestyle.

that is strategy. To interrupt people mid-turn and foil their strategy. I would have never won a few of my early games if not for this strategy.

What a bunch of smart asses.
"In a freestyle game it doesn't matter in which order players take their turns. After the last player takes his turn, a new round begins immediately. The player who triggers a new round is not allowed to take a second back-to-back turn and must wait for someone else to play.
Note the line wait for someone else to play."
I was unaware that it didn't require that person to actually finish.
Note the use of the "order of players take their turns"
I'll say it again.
What a bunch of smart asses.
Bring on the wise ass comments.

isn't there something in the works that will eliminate turns going on at the same time in freestyle? :D :)

It's simple to see why this topic get brought up so much- The instructions are not very clear. As a temporary fix until lack implements the "no simultaneous turns" feature, I think the instructions should be changed to include a statement such as "Your turn can be taken at any time during each 24 hour round, even concurrently with another player's turn."

Sully, to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of your suggestion, it is done!
updated instructions wrote:In a freestyle game it doesn't matter in which order players take their turns. Players can even play simultaneously! The player who triggers a new round is not allowed to take a second back-to-back turn and must wait for someone else to begin their turn.
